5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent
Broken Steel does for Fallout 3 what the Extended Editions did for Lord of the Rings: by adding more and deeper content it makes you care more and feel like things have properly been resolved. Plus, after the dramatic, explosion-packed finale, you get to play on as long as you like with a raised level cap.

Point Lookout adds a huge swampy area for you too...

2.0 out of 5 stars The Patch for this game cause numerous freezing.
The Fallout 3 expansion of Broken Steel and Lookout Point requires the 1.06 patch in order to play. However this patch caused my computer to freeze at least 5 times a game session (leaving the sound and music to still be played in until control, alt delete, end program was done.

I currently have an Alienware M17x with 8 gb memory, Pentium quad core, and 1...

Point Lookout adds a huge swampy area for you too look around with plenty to see and do. The quest is fun and interesting and there are some great characters and locations. It's a great Fallout add-on, but those who enjoyed Bethesda's Shivering Isles and Morrowind will enjoy the landscape too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent DLC, August 31, 2009
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Fallout 3 Game Ad-On Pack: Broken Steel and Point Lookout (DVD-ROM)
If you have Fallout 3 and want to take your game further, this is the DLC for you. Broken Steal and Point Lookout are much, much better and open ended than Operation Anchorage and The Pitt.

Contrary to what one misinformed reviewer wrote, this add on actually removes SecuRom from the original Fallout 3 installation.

If you don't own Fallout 3 yet, you may want to wait, as a game of the year edition will be released soon with all five DLCs included.

4.0 out of 5 stars worthy additions to the Fallout universe, September 12, 2009

I've been pleased with the DLCs that Fallout 3 has come out with. Fortunately my two favorites happened to be packaged together. Both provide entertaining game play and at $[...] its a pretty good deal

BROKEN STEEL: Broken Steel begins where the main quest in the game ended. After activating the water purifier, you must deal with the remaining pockets of the Enclave forces through out the wasteland. There are also some fun side quests where you deal with gangs that attempt to extort the new water supply. Broken Steel adds some fun adventure and some powerful new equipment, which you will definitely need because the action gets intense towards the end. The biggest perk is that you can increase your EXP level to 30 that include some powerful benefits

POINT LOOKOUT: My personal favorite of the DLC's so far (though at this point have not played MOTHERSHIP yet) in this DLC you take a ferry to Point Lookout Maine to capitalize on a business opportunity. What you find is evil masterminds who try to recruit you as their personal assassin, mutant hillbillies and black magic cults. You don't get too many unique weapons or armor but the map is huge. I'd say it's roughly 1/4 the size of the main map. There's a lot to explore in Point lookout(you get an achievement if you find all of the map locations) and it has some very enjoyable(and lengthy) side quests.

If you're a fan of fallout I would get these two DLCs instead of The Pitt package. Both of these DLC's add a good 6-7 hours of game play to the game. pick it up!

There is a reason why this game was game of the year. It is excellent. Not for younger gamers though. It has all the elemnts of an R rated film other than nudity. The broken steel add on pack gives you a few more weapons and raises your level cap. The point look-out add-on gives you another quest line. the quest line will take you about 2-3 hours to complete, and follows the original story line. The best thing about this add-on is that it gets rid of the crappy you die ending that the original fall-out 3 had. So once you finish this add on you can wander around aimlessly or finish all the side quests. There are five expansions for this game that I know of. The other three are available for download. Just do a web search for them.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have for any Fallout 3 players!, March 8, 2010

Fallout 3 itself is a incredible game, with so much to do and the graphics are truely jaw-dropping. If you liked Fallout 3, then you will definately like this expansion DLC pack! The two DLC's featured in here will make Fallout 3 last a LOT longer. Unlike the other DLC pack that features the Pitt and Operation Anchorage: This pack focuses on expanding the present Fallout 3 Capital wasteland as well as adding a new open-ended world to explore.

Broken Steel:

This DLC (Downloadable-Content) extends Fallout 3 so that once you finish the main story, you can keep playing instead of getting kicked out after the end. This allows you to freestyle in a way similar to Oblivion. Broken Steel adds much more depth to the story and it adds tons of new goodies and challenges that have not been implented in Fallout 3. In this DLC, you get to enter a new open-ended zone featuring Adams Air Force Base (Andrews Air Force Base in real life) that is home to the enclave communications HUB and has a lot to see! Broken steel is one of the best DLC addons for Fallout 3 In my opinion.

Point Lookout:

This DLC should be treated like a Expansion. Point Lookout is a Freestyle explore type of DLC not featured in any of the other DLC's. The setting is Point Lookout: Maryland on the coast where there is swamplands and new mutated creatures and "Swampfolk". When you first arrive to point lookout, the map of the place just amazed me to know that this DLC features a open-ended enviroment vs a limited and restricted area that has no explorational value. Point Lookout, while not as big as the capital wasteland: The area is big enough to make things interesting and a handful of quests are added that give the place a little more depth. The atmosphere of Point Lookout is very rural and low-populated, so you won't cross many friendly people in the lands. One of my favorites of this DLC is that you get a Double Barrel Shotgun (About time!) and it is really powerful but degrades easily. I would call this the second best DLC with Broken Steel being first.

For anyone who collects the Fallout series, or just plays Fallout 3: I recommend you buy this if you want Fallout 3 to be ENHANCED a lot more than the previous two DLC's. Thumbs up all the way!

The Fallout 3 expansion of Broken Steel and Lookout Point requires the 1.06 patch in order to play. However this patch caused my computer to freeze at least 5 times a game session (leaving the sound and music to still be played in until control, alt delete, end program was done.

I currently have an Alienware M17x with 8 gb memory, Pentium quad core, and 1 gb video card allowing me to play the game with ease on ultra settings; so obviously this is not a lack of power play. After doing much research in my endeavor to fix this problem, I was informed that I would have to do some real crazy tweeking with my sound settings deep within the realms of Windows 7 "folder not found" world. Windows 7 is most likely to blame for this so if you have it along with a good computer, be prepared to play a whole lot of freeze tag (control, alt del....task mnger, end program...rerun the game....etc..etc..). Maybe if you are very computer literate unlike me then you won't be troubled by it. Good luck, the expansion is very fun but it's not worth the trouble. Maybe if you have mothership zeta expansion with the latest patch the problem is fixed.

I didn't want to be bothered with Windows Live! and Microsoft Points and all that nonsense, so I just decided to make a straight purchase (for real money, and not stupid points, no less!) of this ad-on pack. For the money, it's well worth it. Broken Steel is worth the price of admission alone, considering that it raises your level cap from twenty to thirty, and re-writes the game's often criticized ending to something much more palatable. The game is so vast and I'm still exploring the Capital Wasteland while enjoying leveling over 20, so I haven't even had an opportunity to play, or comment on Point Lookout. Again, if you're on the fence, this is worth it just for Broken Steel, considering how much it improves the core game.

This is an Outstanding game & expansion pack. It is immense and you can play it not for hours, days or weeks, but months, and still discover new things. The game will change with the persona you adopt (nice guy, crook, Opportunist, etc.)The expansion pack gives you the opportunity for a 50 % increase in your experience level, and also a whole new world to explore. This is probably the best game for the money that I ever experienced. It is absorbing as well. You will swear you are immersed in post nuclear apocalyptic Washington, and suurounding areas. Since I live in that area, I know the surroundings are geographically a culturally acurate. An amazing game.

A wonderful add on to the fantastic game Fallout 3. If you are a fan of the original games I highly recommend getting the latest content to enhance your playing experience. One other comment regards the use of SecuRom as mentioned by other reviewers - the only SecuRom check performed is a standard disk media check. The more intrusive versions of this copyright protection is NOT used. Do not let a standard media check get in the way of enjoying this fantastic game and expansion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Must-Have Addition, December 20, 2009
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars

This review is from: Fallout 3 Game Ad-On Pack: Broken Steel and Point Lookout (DVD-ROM)
One of the main problems with Fallout 3 is that you reach the max level 20 before you've completed half the quests or explored half the content. Broken Steel adds another ten levels you can achieve...although it also adds more quests and content, and you'll reach level 30 all too quickly. Still, those levels are a welcome addition and a must-have for Fallout 3 fans. Watch out for ghoul reavers added to the game--they're FAR tougher than regular ghouls and a welcome challenge.

Point Lookout is a less successful addition. It's enjoyable to play, but I wouldn't spend more than $8 for it if it weren't bundled with Broken Steel.
