5.0 out of 5 stars From an A. Co. 1/8 Marine, March 2, 2006
This review is from: Fallujah, with Honor; First Battalion, Eighth Marine's Role in Operation Phantom Fury; Expanded 2nd Edition (Hardcover)
I was there with Alpha Co. 1/8 Weapons Plt. Attached to 1st Plt.
I pre-ordered this book, hoping for the best. What I got was just amazing. I read it from cover to cover in a day. All the stories, atleast the ones from Alpha Company brought back memories.
This book was written well, and is nothing but factual. Some of the names/ranks are wrong but that can be forgiven. It gave the average person insight into what we went through in that city. And brought back alot of memories of the things we did.
After I was done reading it I passed it along to my family to take a gander at. They were all pleased with it also.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a little knowledge on what really went down in the streets of Fallujah.

5.0 out of 5 stars from a mom whose son died in Fallujah, February 19, 2006
By
B.Houck (Millbridge, NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Fallujah, with Honor; First Battalion, Eighth Marine's Role in Operation Phantom Fury; Expanded 2nd Edition (Hardcover)
I vehemently disagree with the reviewer in Ohio! Surely he hasn't met one single Marine who fought in that battle, nor has he heard the stories of the buddies who died in their arms, nor has he talked to the parents of sons who didn't return. Our son was in Bravo Company, which sustained so many losses in wounded Marines or casualties, that replacements had to be flown in from the U.S. What they did there will go down in Marine history! The insurgents no longer have Fallujah as a stronghold, and they don't dare face thousands of Marines again in urban warfare because THEY LOST! The January, 2005 elections were peaceful because of the weapons caches found and the insurgents that were routed out of that city. We must never forget that the price of freedom is the blood of heroes!

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you Gary Livingston, February 28, 2006
This review is from: Fallujah, with Honor; First Battalion, Eighth Marine's Role in Operation Phantom Fury; Expanded 2nd Edition (Hardcover)
I just received my book today and cannot lay it down. First of all thank you Gary for taking the time to spend with the 1/8 and writing their story. A lot of names in this book I know personally. This book is personal. I am another Marine Mom whose son was in the battle of Fallujah with the 1/8-Charlie Company. B. Houck I am so sorry for your loss and the loss of all our fallen heroes. Sir I strongly disagree, sleepy?????? Many days and nights these courageous Marines went without sleep as their families did back home worrying if their child was safe and still alive. I guess you would have to be part of the 1/8 to truly understand the bravery and the brotherhood of these fine young men-United States Marines. I will recommend this book to all. God Bless to all our Gold Star Families. Proud Mom from Ohio
