Book Description

Regency Romance October 1, 1985
The lovely Lady Leonora Talwin had heard all the stories about the rakish Marquess of Severne and vowed never to become one of his victims. But she knew far too litle about her foolish heart to daunt this lord who feasted on such feminine frailties. Regency original romance.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Layton's best but good read, August 15, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: False Angel (Regency Romance) (Paperback)
In several of Ms. Layton's Signet Regency Romances, there are several men pursuing the same woman. False Angel is different in that two women want the same man. Leonora is the daughter of a viscount, Annabelle is her country cousin, and the two women are complete opposites. Annabelle is a user and she is tired of being poor and wants Joss, the Marquess of Severne, for his title and wealth. Leonora thinks Annabelle is fragile and vulnerable and falls for her "woe is me" style. Leonora has been attracted to the divorced marquess for five years. When Joss starts to notice Leonora in return, Annabelle tells him lies about Leonora to separate them. When Joss turns his attentions to Annabelle, Leonora wonders what went wrong.

To me, this book wasn't up to par with The Duke's Wager, Lord of Dishonor, etc., but it wasn't bad either.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unique plot, October 7, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: False Angel (Regency Romance) (Paperback)
Everything that I've read from Edith Layton has been very well written. After reading hundreds of Regency Romances, this books stands out because of the unique characters and situation. I've gotten so tired of the seemingly current fad of "go to Vauxhall...get abducted...hero rescues heroine". This book is refreshing.

"False Angel" is another winner from Edith Layton. Once again she creates a solid framework with deep, believable characters and a realistic situation for the herione and hero of the book to overcome.
