Dark Like the Bayou,

This review is from: False Truths (Mass Market Paperback)
The sequal to Gwen Hunter's "Betrayl", which continues the story of the vicious DeLande family. Bonnibelle's character is intriguing and a delight to read. Hard to put down and easy to pick up and read again! Masterful writing from an author who deserves more credit.

HYPNOTIC, MAGNIFICENTLY TOLD TALE!,

This review is from: False Truths (Mass Market Paperback)
I could not put this book down. I felt as if I was down there in the bayou and in New Orleans. Ms. Hunter has conveyed a sense of place so elegantly, so eloquently, I was literally there with Bonnibelle every minute. What a wonderful heroine. What fabulous portraits of the other characters - from Perkins to Miss CeCe to Rhames, Michau, Miles, the Grand Dame and Azalea - one and all. Fabulous!

This author, has captured the smells, warmth, and excitement of louisiana. Her descrivitive writings have taken me there, when I don't even need to leave the house. I hope she continues the sequel. When you want to walk into a book I highly suggest this read. Becareful you'll get hungry!

I picked up this book a long, long time ago, and recently picked it up again. It's an intense read. The characters and places are so vivid and real, it's as if I were walking the streets of New Orleans or in the bayou with them. I could feel the humidity of a Deep Southern summer come right off the pages. Hunter has a way with words that so few authors have these days. Love her characters, love her settings. Hunter worked some sort of magic if she can get the reader to be both repulsed and fascinated by the DeLande family and what they've done.

This was well written and hard to put down. The plot was very good too. At first I wasn't interested because of the subject matter but she writes so well that I had to read the entire book in two sittings. Even though this was not on Kindle, I broke my rule and bought the actual book, she is an exceptional writer!
