This recording was the beginning of what we now as MANA!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Falta Amor (Audio CD)
On the CD "Falta Amor", you can hear the early music of Mana, before the "Suenos Liquidos" craze. This CD has more of a variety of styles, sounds, and instruments. If you are tired of listening to nortenas, rancheras, cumbias, etc. but want to hear Latin music with a kick, any Mana CD will do the trick! Of course when you buy this CD, probably the only song you will recognize is "Rayando el Sol". This is a good song, of course, but listen to the other songs. They all have good sounds and interesting messages. If you are a true fan of Mana and their original blend of sounds, you will enjoy this CD!

Not Mana's best, but still very good,

I found this CD after hearing almost all of their later works, so this was not their best, but it has a wide range of rock/pop songs. The lyrics range from the ridiculous (Refrigerador, Perdido en un Barco) to the sublime (Falta Amor). If you have never heard Mana, try "Donde Jugaran los Ninos, "Suenos Liquidos," or "Cuando Angeles Lloran." But if you are waiting for their next album and need a Mana fix, go ahead and get it.

To Set the record straight,

This Cd is the first Cd this group made under their new name MANA. It has favorite songs such as perdido en un barco, rayando el sol, estoy agotado, buscandola, falta amor and gitana. All of these songs are now our on their new greatest hits collection called "mana essenciales". I would like to set the record straight in saying that all of these songs do not sound the same,, each one is a different style of music. Also, this group is not four mexicans, one of the aspects of the group that gives it a unique flavor, is the mix of the cuban drummer, the poetic lead singer, and the great guitarists. This CD is a must if wanting to get to know the original MANA.

SOY UN SEGUIDOR DE LA MUSICA DE MANA DESDE HACE 14 AÑOS CUANDO SALIO ESTE DISCO; RECUERDO COMO ESCUCHABA DE PRINCIPIO A FIN EL CASSETTE QUE GRABE DEL CD. ES UN ECELENTE TRABAJO CON LETRAS FRESCAS Y CANCIONES QUE PEGAN. SALVO SU SEGUNDA PRODUCCION DONDE JUGARAN LOS NIÑOS? PUEDO DECIR QUE NO HAY DISCO QUE SE COMPARE CON ESTE.SI ERES FANATICO DE MANA, COINCIDIRAS QUE ESTE DISCO NO PUEDE FALTAR DENTRO DE COLECCION.

True fan......,

This CD is what we call an old school great. If you are a true fan of Mana and want a mix of latin rythms with rock en espanol, go for it. As for the people who believe this is not one of their better CDs, they must have jumped on the bandwagon at the wrong time or for the wrong reasons. Their following CD put them on the map, those after that, are still good CDs but lost some of its old school appeal. You can't blame them for trying to capture a different fan base. In either case, they are one of the best latin bands of all time and it appears they will continue to be for a long time.

Not as good as the others, but "Rayando el sol" make it rock,

I bought this cd for one reason, "Rayando el sol" cause that song is one of their best songs! But the rest of the cd is average "Perdido en un barco" is a nice latin pop song and "Falta Amor" is a nice lyric song, but it doesn`t have the same feeling as "Suenos Liquidos" "Unplugged" and "Cuando los angeles lloran" but it is worth to have for any real mana fan(like me). It is also alot softer then their new material!

Pretty enjoyable and easy to listen,
This review is from: Falta Amor (Audio CD)
Okay some reviewers said that the album isn't as good as their other material or that it's too different but that's how it's supposed to be. Each now album is supposed to be better or as good as the one below, and the formula is supposed to be tweaked enough to not become repetitive. (If you haven't figured it out by now, this is their first album).
With that said this is not a bad album actually. It's fairly easy to listen to, and the best way to describe it is like the DJLN(Donde Jugaran Los Ninos) album but with the rock factor toned down. I would actually say the DJLN is their first real rock album. If you have DJLN, CLAL, SL and their RDA albums then there's no reason why you shouldn't enjoy the songs on this album.

And old Maná album... but a GREAT one!,

It surprises me that nobody reviewed this cd... because it's definitely worth a good review! Even though it's Maná's second album with the original line-up (Fher, Alex, Juan and Ulises), this album is definitely worth a try. It starts off with "Gitana", a really rhythmic and Spanish-sounding song. Second is "Refrigerador"... in which Fher sings about finding a girl in his fridge and wonders what to do. This is definitely a poppy, and if you understand the lyrics, funny song. "Rayando el sol" is also a poppy love song. "Buscándola", the fourth track, is a surprising song. Alex on vocals and a tropical beat... with Fher on backing vocals. A great song if you're in a bad mood -- you'll be cheered up right away! In "Soledad" Fher, who is an excellent song writer, tells the listener about his lost love. Maná is known as a band who is concerned about the world surrounding us, and on this album there's the track "Falta Amor" -- about streetkids who are left alone. "Estoy agotado" also has a happier sound (though the lyrics are somewhat different) but nothing prepares you for what's next... the great track "Perdido En Un Barco". This is fun! This is the tropics! Fher lost on a boat in the Caribbean... and only women on board! He feels happy (duh!) and that's exactly what this song is... happy! "La Puerta Azul" is a heartfelt ballad that almost takes you down to small Mexican fishermen villages. Closers of this great album are "Maeo", a poppy love song, and "No Me Mires Así" -- in which Fher has fallen in love with his best friend's girlfriend. Just go out and buy this cd! Oh, and if you get the chance... try to find the video for "Perdido En Un Barco"! The boys fooling around, surrounded by fake palm trees and a few Hawaiian-looking girls! Great album, a must-have for ALL Maná fans!!!

This early Mana sound is not too bad, but most of the songs sound the same. Ofcourse if it wasent for this CD we would have never heard "Rayando el sol"(scratching the sun) wich is one of the best songs in the world. Another fantastic song in this CD is "Perdido en un barco"(lost in a ship) wich has a caribean sound. Song number nine "La puerta azul"(the blue door) will make your heart remember love. Although this CD was made by four Mexicans It has no Mariachis on it, but most songs include an acustic guitar. Its not the best CD in the world but after all this record was made by Mana and when was the last time you heard a bad Mana song?

big disappointment,

I love mana. But their early sound is far different from their sound from at least six years ago. I will not recommend this cd unless you want to explore mana's roots; try their en vivo album instead--it's beautiful.
