4.0 out of 5 stars Great Vocal Cast
FAME on 42nd street, despite some issues with the direction, is a nice rendition of the show. This CD is definitely the best one to date (of the stage productions). Most of the cast have great voices. The number on the CD best sung, delivered, and consistant is Q Smith's INCREDIBLE rendition of "Mabel's Prayer" sung with ease, power, and great vocal strength...

1.0 out of 5 stars Unfortunately, Fame Off-Broadway does not suceed
After seeing Fame on 42nd Street for free, I was very disappointed after having left the theatre. While there may be vocal talent in the show, the book itself fails. The lyrics are not clever ("I'm alive, I will survive"... come on folks) and the dialogue was painful to listen to. I think my favorite line was, "Was that really necessary?" reponse:...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best FAME CD out there!, December 19, 2003

Okay first of all, the previous reviews were about the show itself and not about the new recording of FAME. Yeah, we all know the book is pretty shallow, but the music is still catchy and fun to listen to. So don't rate the recording by you seeing the show. Rate it by how you liked the recording!

As for me, I have all three recordings and this is by far the best recording out there. The vocals are just amazing and the instrumentation on this CD is better than the others. It is a really good CD and if you like the music from FAME, then you definitley need to buy this recording! A couple things that I don't like is that it doesn't include the reprise of "Hard Work" at the end of Act 1, and I am not the biggest fan of the two teachers' voices in this cast, but oh well.

Just get this CD and support the cast by checking it out on Off-Broadway ASAP!

The Fame on 42nd Street Cast Recording is one of the best CD's I own. You can feel the energy from the cast from just listening to it. I recently saw the show and the CD brings the magic of seeing the show to you. All the singers voices are amazing. The music is youthful with high energy, making you want to get up and dance. Live Forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL, April 17, 2004
This review is from: Fame on 42nd Street (2003 Original Off-Broadway Cast) (Audio CD)
I have seen this show, and I love it. Nothing is as good as seeing Fame live, but the CD is still amazing. The actors are wonderful, and the songs are beautiful. I escpecially love Sara Schmidt in "Let's Play a Love Scene." Everyone should go see Fame and then buy the CD!

This review is from: Fame on 42nd Street (2003 Original Off-Broadway Cast) (Audio CD)
i thought the play and the soundtrack rocked! The play drew me in from the first chord and i loved it. My school went for a trip so we did the Students Live workshop. We even got to meet two of the actors in the play. Im not sure if thats what made it great but either way, WHOO HOO.

5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING, April 2, 2004

This is an AMAZING show. From the instant it started it had me involved just from the opening music numbers. While watching it seemed to me like a cross between Rent (for mostly content) and Footloose (for the music and especially the dancing). The CD is Phenominal. The cast really does put a HUGE effort into their singing and the characters truely show thorough everything they do. Everyone should listen to this soundtrack. It keeps me happy and my toes tapping all day long!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, March 19, 2004

This soundtrack is, as I title the review, awesome. I can always count on it to put me in a good mood. In fact, I'm listening to it right now, and it's 4 in the morning. The cast is amzing, just audilly. You can really see a character behind everone on the foreground level, and see how much effort that was put into their performance. I think it's bad to call it a performance though, because a performance means just "doing it", but they did more than that. That's why this soundtrack is spectacular.
