Man, I've been looking EVERYWHERE for this CD. Dana Dane With Fame brings back some serious memories of growing up in the 80's. Soon as I get it, I'm grabbin a 40oz, pickin up some old school homies, and get transported back to the old school dayz... dig

Are you seriously asking over $200.00 for a CD? I hope this is a typing error. If not, Good luck selling that. the album only had two good songs on it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Material (5 Stars), May 21, 2005
This review is from: With Fame (Audio CD)
Judging from the previous reviews, I guess I'm lucky to have this album on wax and on CD. Back in '87, I was buying records in pairs in case I damaged or lost one. I hardly gave it any spin because I was busy buying other joints too, so my second copy is unused and still in the shrink wrap. I'd reccomend browsing E-Bay for a copy. You should be able to find one there. I found a copy of Whodini's self titled debut there for about $8.00 brand new and that's even harder to find than this one. Good luck.

And now, the review:

Dana Dane's 1987 debut, Dana Dane With Fame, is one of those classic albums that has managed to fall between the cracks. People tend to forget all about Dana Dane when they talk about classic albums. It wasn't a groundbreaking LP when it was released, but there are so many classic joints on the album that it's virtually a must have LP. Anyone that was listening to this when it came out back in '87 will tell you the same.

There aren't any flaws that come to mind when I think about this joint. Of course, the beats are a little dated, but it came out 18 yeas ago, so that should be expected. Other than that, the album is fresh from start to finish.

Dana Dane With Fame is a classic joint. I'm not going to call it the best rap album ever like these other reviewers, but it's definitely a must have LP. It may not be the best rap album from 1987, but it's right up there with them.

5.0 out of 5 stars A reissue is a MUST--bottom line!!, July 8, 2002

I just wanted to agree with what you people have already written. I was in my mid-teens when this album was originally released. There's a handful (or two) of rap albums that are GENUINELY classic material. Man is this ever one of them! A great album. I'll be honest, I love much of the rap music that consists of the violent themes. It's nothing more than a musical movie to me. However, with that being said, this is the type of rap album that takes you back to "the good ole' days." I used to have this album on vinyl & cd. Now I have neither. I sold the vinyl about 5 years ago, and I lost the cd soon after--it was accidentally left on an airplane!! I'm still depressed over that one!! Anyway, what in THE WORLD is taking so long to get this reissued--it needs to be digitally remastered on CD, or SACD, as soon as possible. GREAT ALBUM!!

That guy is a moron that is right a moron. This CD is probally worth 40 Bucks good luck on that one man I hope this CD is brought back so you look like a fool. As for the music it is pretty good pop-rap music from the 1980's It is a lot like Will Smith who I am a fan of. Not even worth 1/20 of that guys price

5.0 out of 5 stars CONTAINS CLASSIC MATERIAL NOT REPRESENTED IN "BEST OF" CD, April 5, 2005

I was just trying to a search for Dana Danae but Itunes only had Cinderfella Dana Dane. I was thinking more like Love at first sight since that is my favorite song I remember feeling all warm inside after that call from Jackie came too late...but anyway then I thought, maybe I should get a couple more of his songs. as soon as his name came to me i did a search so i wouldnt forget. here i found some 'best of' cd that did not quite do it for me, i also would like to have dana dane with fame, delancey street, and this be the def beat. I need to have this CD. There is no substitute for it. This is definitely worth a release, as you can see by the $88.00 amd $90 price tags on the ones that people are willing to sell.

This album is a classic. It reminds me of the good old days and stays in my head for hours after i'm through listening. Flashback: 1987, University of New Orleans in the '77 Cutlass Olds, with a 40 in hand and the boys in the back. Man, those were the good old days.

5.0 out of 5 stars CLASSIC ALBUM!! No hip-hop collection is complete without it!, August 6, 2005
This review is from: With Fame (Audio CD)
This is a classic rap album, but hip-hop purists already know this. Back when MC Ricky D and Doug E. Fresh were runnin' things, Dana Dane was the other accented MC. Anyone who was raised on hip-hop from this era could tell you that they bought this album for "Cinderfella", but what they ended up with was a record (or cassette tape) full of gems. This is now in compact disc form, and anyone who had the record or tape back then cannot fulfill their cd collection without this! Of course, even the CD is nearly impossible to get now, but if you come across it, you had better not let it get past you.
