From Publishers Weekly

In a predictable yet entertaining read, bestselling CBA author Kingsbury introduces heartthrob Dayne Matthews and the charming Midwesterner Katy Hart. Dayne, Hollywood's number one hunk, wants to work opposite someone who exudes innocence in his new romantic comedy, so he persuades his casting agent to bring an unknown woman from Bloomington, Ind., for an audition—Katy. Katy once aspired to be a famous actress—she filmed a made-for-TV movie—but now she directs a children's theater. Indeed, it was through the theater that Dayne first discovered Katy: on a trip to Bloomington, she had captured his attention during a performance. Because this is the first in a planned five-volume series, none of the plot lines tie up neatly. By the end, Kingsbury has revealed that Dayne has some deep, secret family links to Bloomington; presumably these connections will be explored in subsequent novels. The seeds are also planted for Dayne to become a Christian sometime in the series—we learn that he had something of a Christian childhood, but has since abandoned it for casual sex and trendy Kabbalah. Readers won't have to wait long to find out; Kingsbury plans to turn out this series at an amazing clip, with one novel every three months. (June 15)

Karen Kingsbury is an excellent writer. I have read her entire Redemption series, and passed each book onto friends. We all highly anticipated every issue and were always pleased with each one. I am sooooo happy she didn't stop with the Redemption series but allowed her readers to continue enjoying the lives of these characters with the firstborn series. I will continue to purchase whatever she writes.

Another AWESOME book from my favorite author, Karen Kingsbury. She never ceases to amaze me and she captures my attention from page 1. When I read her stories, I get so involved in them, it's like I know the characters personally!!! Strongly recommend...but you would do yourself justice to start with her Redemption series. Although, you don't need to read the previous ones in order to follow this book and fall in love with it!

Thank you!!!! Another book from Karen Kingsbury, who left us with "The Redemption Series" wondering what do we do now? Here it is. More answer's and then more question's added to this continuing "Baxter family" who we all cried with, lived with, and grieved with. I can't seem to get them read fast enough, for the rest of my family who are waiting in the wing's. The weave of morality through this book, is done in only the way Karen Kingsbury can do this. No hold's barred, she tell's it like it is, and you live though these people's live's with them. When you think you have it figured out, you don't. Waiting for the next one!!!!!!!

Karen has done it again! Another wonderful read. I have not ever read through one of her books without crying, laughing, and thinking about my life choices. Once you pick up this book it is nearly impossible to put it down. The only downside is that you have to wait for the next book in the series to become available!

While I own quite a few of Karen Kingsbury's novels, this is the first I've read because the storyline drew me in. It was exciting from the first page. While getting to know the characters I discovered that some had their own stories, which resolved in earlier books, and that intrigued me. Now I feel like I need to backtrack and read the others as well. I really enjoyed getting to know Dayne and Katy. Even though Dayne is lost, he longs for real love. He just doesn't know what it is or where to find it. I experienced his struggles with him and found them to be very true-to-life. Her portrayal of temptation and a life involving casual sex was believable as well as Katy's struggle with wanting fame, but discovering that ultimately it wasn't what she really wanted. She stayed true to her faith and I think in the long run that will be what leads Dayne to the Lord. This book inspired me immensely and I can't wait for Forgiven to come out in the Fall. I'VE GOTTA GET IT!

This was a definite page turner. I could hardly put the book down. I've been waiting forever for this book to come out and I finished it in a day ... lol. The characters are developed so well, the reader feels what the characters feel. You laugh with them and you cry with them ... and when the book ends, you feel like your friends have gone on vacation until the next book. I loved it. If I could give it six stars I would. I especially like how she continues to weave the Baxter Family into the story, so its like a continuation of a wonderful story. I love it, love it, love it ... and can't wait for the next installment :). While I wait ... I guess I will dive into her many other novels :)

FAME is the first book in the Firstborn series, which follows the Redemption series by Karen Kingsbury.

Dayne Matthews, Hollywood heartthrob, whom we briefly met in REUNION, is captivated by Katy Hart. Katy is a director of children's theater that Dayne stumbled across while he was in Bloomington, Indiana. Though their meeting was brief and one-sided, for whatever reason Dayne can't seem to get Katy out of his mind. When he returns to Hollywood and is cast in a new romantic comedy, the only woman he can picture to play his leading lady is Katy. After digging into her background, and finding out she was once an actress before a director of children's theater, Dayne convinces the casting director to give her a call. Dayne's infatuation with Katy is of overwhelming proportions. His mind wanders constantly about how it would be if they became more than co-stars. His fear-the Hollywood lifestyle will scare her off, and the down home, wholesome, Katy will never be able to see past his tabloid, playboy image.

Katy Hart cannot believe what is happening to her. One day she is casting the roles for her children's theater, and the next, she is being contacted by a Hollywood casting director wanting her to test for an upcoming movie starring none other than Dayne Matthews, Hollywood's own Don Juan. Though she is convinced it is some kind of joke or a mistake, Katy agrees to fly to Hollywood to do a reading. The electricity she feels with Dayne Matthews is immediate. And soon, Katy feels the struggle of wanting to reach for her dream, and the fear of being drawn into a lifestyle diametrically opposed to her conservative values.

I could not wait to read FAME. I've had it since its original release in 2005 but never found the time to read it.
