At 560 pages it looked an average size book and the cover had a rather slender and glamorous woman posing on a sun lounger, it looked like just my kind of book. Thankfully as soon as you start reading you are drawn into the fabulous world of the stars in the book. Sabrina Leon is the first character we meet and she is sassy, strong and has a very big mouth. Of course I instantly liked her!
We also meet the rather handsome but slightly brooding Viorel who is also an actor looking for his next big part. Dorian Razmirez is the glue that bonds them all together. With his rival Director Harry Greene snapping at his ankles, Dorian is determined to get his new film off the ground with the stars he thinks will make or break his movie.
Tish Crewe is a woman that runs her own orphanage in Romania and is called back home to England to try and salvage the family home that her brother now owns. With her brother off gallivanting Tish decides to take her son Abel and stay the summer back at Loxley Hall and try to repair and salvage what is left of the beautiful stately home that has been in her family for many years.
As the movie Dorian is making coincides with Tish's life, the fireworks really begin. I literally couldn't put this book down. You could almost feel the tension, tantrums and inevitable upheaval between the characters coming. The characters were all written so well that I liked each of them for various reasons and although none of them were perfect they all had redeeming qualities.Read more ›
Sabrina- was picked for fame a very young age, fame getting a better of her, which the leads her astray and a video shocker brings its all crashing down with a bump. Until Dorian gives her a chance of playing lead role in Wuthering Heights but the catch is she will not get paid. Will this give her fame another boost.
Dorian gets his A listed lead man to play Heathcliffe - Viorel, but of a cost of 5 millon pounds.
All Dorian needs to find his perfect English country house. But with the perfect english country house could there be trouble with the locals especially with the lady of the house.
Viorel Hudson: A Romanian actor who is eagerly awaiting his big role. Adopted from a Romanian orphanage as a boy, he was raised by a high profile mother in the UK who viewed him as a "do gooder" project. No maternal-filial warmth in their relationship.
Dorian Rasmirez: A gifted director and known for his fidelity to his Ice Queen wife who is infamous for cheating on him (he has caught her in flagrante delicto more than once), he will do anything to make her happy. Part of what keeps him bound is their 3-year-old daughter. He is one of the few likable characters.
Sabrina Leon: An angry little survivor of foster homes and abuse from Fresno California, she is fierce, mouthy and has a lot of spit and fire in her. She changes lovers like the average person changes their shirt. She is also a fierce little wildcat and a skilled actress.
Harry Greene: A director who is Dorian's fiercest rival. He has directed a string of successful movies and is determined to hurt Dorian where it hurts the most - by snapping up his wife when she decides to leave Romania and Dorian with their daughter and return to California. You can pretty much predict the outcome.
Jago - the Prodigal Brother. He spends his time and money on pleasure jaunts around the world and sounds like a latter day hippie. He has no interest in business and no viable job skills or talents. He has been indulged to a fault and has been spoon fed a sense of entitlement.Read more ›
