Pier Bucci - Familia, September 21, 2011
This review is from: Familia (Audio CD)
Pier Bucci offers a little tech-house gem with FAMILIA. Though its structure is familiar: beat, with some long synths and melody laid on top, Bucci does manage to change it up enough to make it unique. "Tita" has a gentle lyric -- a little wobbly around the edges -- to introduce a softness to the track, which the rhythm on "Towers" is more subdued, almost to the point of a suggestion, but it morphs into the more beat-y "The R-8 Moog" which has a simple, spare synth atop. The vocals return for "L Nuit," but they're even more ghostly the second time around -- that is, until the dark buzz and acid line take over. The heavy thump continues into "Jess" and "Hay Consuelo," the latter augmented by some Spanish vocals. By the time "Siberia" comes pounding in, you're well-entranced by the percolating melodies. The tempo goes down for "Pipostrack" and "Hydra" has a lovely liquid wobble to it. You just can't say no to family!
