More About the Author

My early work (eight-years-old) would be called fan fiction today. I began by writing my version of Bobbsey Twins novels on legal pads that my dad brought home from the office. As an only child - in the days before children became little electronic receivers - there was often not much to do other than seek amusement in my own head.

Childhood fantasies involved being the only girl (for some odd reason) at a ranch for wayward boys. Yes. I do realize this sounds vaguely familiar. Those fantasies were supported by real life events because the boys included me in the afternoon neighborhood games whether it was cowboy/Indians or G.I. Joe.

When I left the Bobbsey Twins behind I didn't write again until I was married with children and in my mid-twenties. I completed a paranormal romance and gave it to my spouse to read. After hearing his criticisms I didn't write again for decades. At the time I didn't understand that he's the absolute farthest thing from my audience.

It turned out to be a blessing because during that time that I didn't write, I lived an extremely full life. I traveled a lot, raised a family, got an education (I have an M.A. in Psychology.) and explored my compulsion to be a spiritual seeker. The fantasies were a constant companion throughout. The faces and names of the characters changed as I matured, but they remained a source of comfort. They helped me through hell-raising teenagers and three near-death scares.

By the time I started writing again, I had something to say.

I write cross-genre with uniquely fresh perspectives on paranormal creatures, characters, and themes. Add a dash of scifi and a flourish of fantasy to enough humor to make you laugh out loud and enough steam to make you squirm in your chair. My heroines are independent femmes with flaws and minds of their own whether they are aliens, witches, demonologists, psychics, or past life therapists. My heroes are hot and hunky, but they also have brains, character, and good manners - usually - whether they be elves, demons, berserkers, werewolves, or vampires.

My first book, My Familiar Stranger, was nominated for Best Paranormal Romance of 2012 by both Reviewers' Choice and Readers' Choice Awards. All of my books have opened on the Amazon Best Sellers list and earned Night Owl Reviews TOP PICK awards.

For books published in 2013, Black Swan won three awards. 1. Best Paranormal Romance Series 2. Best Paranormal Romance Novel - A SUMMONER'S TALE 3. Best Vampire~Shifter Novel - MOONLIGHT.

If you're interested in me personally, I am also a classically trained musician who defected to Classic Rock music. I'm the utility player which means I play rhythm guitar, keyboards, sing back ups and a few leads. My band has covered everything (note for note) from Styx to Led Zepellin to Rush.

I live in The Woodlands, Texas which is why I sometimes joke about being the witch in the woods. Married. Four children. One very smart, mostly black German Shepherd dog.

My Familiar Stranger was a wonderfully engrossing paranormal romance with just a dash of science fiction that grabbed me from page one and didn't let go!
Ms. Danann absolutely knows how to get a series going. My Familiar Stranger created a captivating new world with so many possibilities. With elves, beserkers, fairies, vampires and who knows what else running around a society parallel to our own there is so much potential! The world building was awesome. Through Danonn's vivid descriptions I felt like I could actually see the Order's lavish headquarters and the creepy but whimsical Romanian strong-hold.

I don't want to give to much away, but watching the relationships build between Elora and the B-Team was magical. This is no "wham-bam, I'm instantly in love with you" book. The relationships progress over time which makes it that much more heartbreaking when you realize that Elora will have to choose between honoring a debt, true love, or true lust. But fear not, Elora gets her happily ever after just like in her favorite fairy..um....er....I mean elf tales ;)

My Familiar Stranger quickly turned into the kind of book that left my husband and son eating pizza for dinner. Who has time to cook when you could be reading a great book instead?

Go ahead and get your pizza coupons handy and start reading My Familiar Stranger now, you won't be disappointed :)

This book is not the usual paranormal story that I am used to reading. It is way better. It is a very well written book that takes the reader on a journey to a new dimension.

Twenty-three year old Elora Laiken has just witnessed the massacre of her entire family, and she is next. In a desperate attempt to save her life, her friend and tutor, Thelonius Monq, opens a portal and forces her into it. Her journey is hell, and when she lands in the center of the Order of the Black Swan she is near death and unrecognizable as a human being. The Order is a group of highly trained soldiers who protect the innocent and search for and destroy vampires.

After weeks of treatment, Elora is finally told where she is. She has been transported to another dimension parallel to her own. Things are both different and alike, it is especially evident how many alike things are when she meets Catalonius C. Monq, her tutor's duplicate.

The Black Swan Order welcomes her and she is surrounded by tall, good looking men. These men are all mortals but some are elves and some are berserkers. Kay is a berserker who has learned to keep his violent behavior under control, Rammel Hawking is an elf and Engel Storm is a human. Storm is responsible for saving her life when everyone else feared her arrival could have been a form of invasion. She has become a part of Storm, Hawking and Kay's group, and other than Kay who is engaged, the other two are determined to win her heart. Especially Ram who knows that she is his life mate, the only woman chosen for him and him alone.

This is not a story where the girl is immediately in love and falls into bed with the man of her dreams.

Left me breathless.

I've been rummaging through most of the romance novels Amazon has to offer under $3 or so for a long while (mostly the free ones, yes I'm a cheapo). I'm going to be bold and say this sits quite comfortably in my number 1 chair. Why? Well, I'm gonna tell yah why (without spoilers of course)

1. The characters are incredibly developed and each with realistic personalities. Rarely do I come across a book where I love all of the characters. You have your serious character (Storm), funny character (Ram), the voice of reason character (Kay) and that character you just can't help but fall in love with (Baka). Together, they're a riot.

2. Hardly do I find an author who can make me genuinely laugh. I was reading at around 3am and some dangerously loud laughs escaped my room (and a few embarrassing snorts I will admit) and awoke my mother. Let's just say she doesn't like this story much...

3. THE STORY LINE IS AMAZING. Don't let my capitals scare you off. I wasn't yelling, I was enthusiastically talking loud. I loved it from beginning to end. At the beginning I was a little skeptical but once I got a good bite I got angry at my eyes for not being able to read faster.

4. Warning; if you get that neck/back pain from reading for too long, make sure you're prepared with necessary equipment to ease the ache. Also, make sure it's within your reach because you're not going to want to get up to get them. This warning should be included in the book before the prologue.

5. It makes you argue with yourself. A good book has that ability.

-I want her to choose Storm, he saved her life and was incredibly sweet to her!

-Omg this elf is gearing me away from Storm. His sense of humor..
