Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

This is the 3rd book in our 32 volume 'Irish Families' series. It focuses only on families found in County Clare and includes families of all religions and backgrounds, including old Irish families and settler families. It follows the master volume to the set, 'The Book of Irish Families, great & small" which contains information on families from all of Ireland.

An outline of the history of the county as it relates to Irish families, and to Irish research, is included, along with an exhaustive history of thousands of Clare families.

From the Author

Having ancestors that hailed from Kilfenora, Co. Clare, it was natural to choose Clare as one of the first volumes in this series. I have included family information taken from the histories of Clare by Frost, and by White, as well as available resources at the IGF library.

If you have narrowed down your family ancestry to the Irish of County Clare, you will want to get this book. If you have not yet determined where your ancestors were born, then a great book to purchase would be "The Book of Irish Families, Great and Small" by the same author. You can also get a wealth of knowledge about the author and his research by visiting his irish cafe [...]. He even has a weekly podcast on Irish Roots you won't want to miss!

This book doesn't do much more than list the names of families that originated from County Clare, Ireland. I had expectations that this book would provide a whole lot more information about the families.

One of the few books ever done on Clare like this. I was waiting for this one to come out again in this series.

This book won't tell you. If you have narrowed your genealogical search to a Townland in Ireland you can bypass this book. Family record keepers will find scant confirmation of what they already know.
