Book Description

September 1, 2003
Dreams reveal and illuminate not only our personal unconscious, but also our shared experiences -- especially our family life. In this original and breakthrough book, Edward Bruce Bynum explores the frequently hidden messages of our dreams as they relate to that intimate web connecting our parents and children, spouses and lovers, and friends and the wider culture. Drawing on material from the ongoing Family Dreams Research Project, Bynum explains how to identify dreams in which family themes play a role; how to understand their impact on one's emotions, decisions, and even physical health; and how to discover the cultural images embedded within.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awakening the Intimate Web, September 22, 2003

Families and the Interpretation of Dreams is an incredible book for those of us who want to understand the hidden connections within the family. The writing is brilliant, convincing and expansive. Dr. Bynum explores dreams through storytelling as well as providing current data. An effective case that nocturnal dreams are interpersonal communications between family members. The numerous examples that he provides make for fascinating reading while providing a convincing argument. I recommend it for anyone interested in dreams or the deeper levels of their own psyche.

If you are interested in learning more about the family dreams you have of those that have passed on and of those that are still here, then this is the book for you. It has some amazing examples of dreams from others as well as from the author. This book helped me distinguish the difference in telepathic, precognitive, and psychic dreams. And actually taught me how to understand my personal family dreams better without being frighten. I am now able to accept my family dreams and learn from them. The author writes with such compassion of how complex these dreams can be and offers great understanding and comfort to the reader. Definitely a great book to read and especially helpful for those that are grieving the loss of a loved one. Well worth your time.
