Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

This is the 5th book in our 32 volume 'Irish Families' series. It focuses only on families found in County Limerick and includes families of all religions and backgrounds, including old Irish families and settler families. It follows the master volume to the set, 'The Book of Irish Families, great & small" which contains information on families from all of Ireland.

An outline of the history of the county as it relates to Irish families, and to Irish research, is included, along with an exhaustive history of thousands of Limerick families.

About the Author

The author of this series is Michael C. O'Laughlin, president of the Irish Genealogical Foundation. He currently has ten hardbound volumes in print on Irish Family History and Culture, and is considered unequaled in his field. He is also the editor of the international monthly journal of "Irish Families", and takes a member group to Ireland each year in search of their roots.

Having written books on every county in Ireland, he also publishes rare works in both Irish and English, including 'The Annals of Ireland by the Four Masters'.

His 6 fields of Irish study include: Genealogy; History; Irish-America; Language (gaeilge); and Song. Vocalist with the Irish Roots Cafe house band, he performed in the first all Irish language stage show of its kind in the mid-west, and was ranked as the #1 Celtic artist in the U.S. in 2012 on Reverbnation.

You know your family ancestors are from Limerick County then you will want to get this book. If you have not yet determined where your ancestors were born, then a great book to purchase would be "The Book of Irish Families, Great and Small" by the same author. If you are just beginning to search for your Irish roots then check out this author's 28 page book, "Irish Family Research: A Common Sense Guide". It is simple, easy and covers basic research. He has condensed those 500 page books to a few simple pages to get you started. You can also get a wealth of knowledge about the author and his research by visiting his irish cafe @ [...] You won't want to miss his weekly podcast on Irish Roots!

Finally something on County Limerick families and genealogy that is not bound in paper ! Lots of families here so don't expect a 12 page dissertation on any one family - but I really learned a lot and enjoyed browsing the pages here at the Irish Genealogical Foundation Library.

I was disappointed because I anticipated a complete history of Limerick county and it was only one of several volumns. It didn't even mention several of my ancestors.
