Book Description: Once, Kate loved Gideon from afar, but her feelings were not returned. Gideon was married, and had the kind of family life that Kate knew she could never have. Distraught, she fled, determined never to return. Now, years later, Kate meets Gideon again. Life has changed them both -- Kate is still tortured by her rootless upbringing, while Gideon is bringing up his two children alone. Kate craves to get close to him again, as he does to her. But that will mean finding the courage to confront her past...and find her future. Her reward could be fulfilling her lifelong wish: having a family to belong to....

---A nice quick read and a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours.

A Family to Belong To by Natasha Oakley
Harlequin Romance # 3878 - January 2006

As a child, Kate had been jostled from foster home to foster home, until she came to stay with Aunt Babs on the Isle of Wight. Now a successful television and radio journalist, Kate is returning to the island for Babs' funeral. On the ferry across, Kate runs into her teenage crush, Gideon. Then she'd been a painful 17 and he'd been a married 26, a man very much embarrassed and unsure of how to handle the teenager's attentions. Now she was a woman successful in career and yearning for family; and he was a widower struggling to raise his two very young daughters. Spending only moments with Gideon on the ferry, is enough to tell Kate that she's not over her crush.

This is a heartwarming story of a young woman who has to over come her past. Returning to the only place that had ever held warmth for her, makes Kate even more aware of how lonely her life has become. Gideon is a tortured man who feels guilt for not knowing how desperate his wife had been before her death. Together, Kate and Gideon discover there is healing. A very nice story with a great HEA. :D
