This review is from: A Family for Christmas (Kindle Edition)
This was a beautiful story about a couple who were in the middle of a divorce, then suddenly found themselves thrown back together. After Trent's brother and Sister-in-law are killed in a head-on collision, they must take over the raising of the four orphaned children. Worse, they have been threatened by Trent's cold-hearted parents that they will contest the will and take the children away...Though the children's parents were loving and wonderful, the children seemed to be a bit undisciplined. I love the way Trent stepped in and laid down the law. Then when poor Maggie was being tortured by one of the kids, Trent sent him to his room and went up to 'talk' to him later. When he walked in the room, the boy was afraid of a spanking. Spanking is an issue that isn't addressed in LI books. I wish it was a bit more. There have been some kids in other books that I felt needed a good spanking. This author did not say spanking would never happen, but only used as the last resort. I liked that...A LOT! In this case, Trent was able to get to the heart of the matter without resorting to that though. This was a great story full of surprises and fun. The couple, though married are a world apart. Hopefully they can learn to become a family in time for Christmas! |
