foster mom loves this book,

This review is from: Family Day:: Celebrating Ethan's Adoption Anniversary (Paperback)
As a foster/adopt mother who adopted an older child from the foster care system, I have had some trouble finding just the right book that fits my daughters situation. This book is perfect! It addresses the things we deal with, such as loving the 'first family', having a life book, and of course, having a special day that we celebrate - the day she was adopted into our family.
I highly recommend this book for families who have adopted an older child from the foster care system, or families who want to explain to their own children what happened to another child in their circle.

As a family of birth and adopted children we are always looking for books to read to our children that relate to our family. We send them to school with the kids to be read at circle time and read them at home along with 100s of other books. Most days our kids don't mention adoption, but some days when something is on their little minds a book like this opens the dialog. From foster family, banging the gavel to finalize the adoption and then annual celebration this book touches on all aspects of forever family celebration. It even mentions the adoption announcement and life book they keep.

We like this book very much. We are coming up on our one year Family Day, so it is very timely for us to have this book. Actually everything by this author has been so great for our family. This particular book is a great way to share with your family the special occasion of family day. It is also good for families who have adopted a child trans racially and older child adoption. It can be used in international or domestic adoptions too since both have a time of validation in a US court, weather or not that is the day you celebrate it will be a good story. Good book from a great author.

Great Foster/Adoption Story,

This is a very sweet story about a family who adopts their son (at an older age) and how they celebrate the day he joined their family. I haven't found many books that deal with kids that weren't adopted at birth or as babies. This book shows that adoption is a special but still normal way for a child to join a family. This book highlights the special traditions adoptive families enjoy.
