Essential for all dog owners.,

This review is from: The Family Dog: Its Choice and Training : A Practical Guide for Every Dog Owner (Paperback)
This is the 12th edition of this book, which fist appeared 40 years ago. John Holmes explains how instincts govern the behaviour of dogs and how we can use these instincts to effectively and humanely train our dog. He offers invaluable advice on the choice of a dog and on important decisions like neutering dogs and putting old dogs to sleep. The reader is very much brought down to earth by the idea that a dog is not "nearly human" - a dog is a dog and should be treated as such. John Holmes loves dogs and his book is essential for anybody who shares this love.
