What a joy to be able to see the seasons unfold day by day, forming a rich mosaic of life on the farm, where respect for the land and a passion for food and family are a way of life. You will feel instantly transported and inspired by the beauty and irresistible charm of Fattoria Poggio Alloro. --Mary Martini, Director, Central Market Cooking School

The text is delightful - I can hear Sarah's voice loud and clear and the photography is a marvelous mix of intimate family moments and glamor food shots: I feel like I am sitting at the table with my fork poised to dig in! Buon appetito hardly says it. --Ethne Clarke, Editor in Chief, Organic Gardening

When I ordered the book, I did it not because I needed another cookbook, but solely because I had met Sarah on a couple of her trips to the U.S. and had stayed overnight at her farm in Tuscany. I am so glad I purchased it. I have not been able to put it down. Anyone who is interested in Tuscany culture and food will find the book highly entertaining. It is beautifully and simply written to hold your interest as well as informative. This is the way all cookbooks should be written, to immerse you into the culture. I had three house guests when the book arrived and we have passed it around all weekend. Two of them had never been to Italy. I highly recommend.

In our vacation visit to Italy we made the decision to include three days at Fattoria Poggio Alloro. It was not only a good choice but turned out to be our favorite experience of our vacation. I got to take a cooking class from Sarah and still make her homemade pasta and sauce. The cookbook is so beautiful and the stories were such a great surprise adding the history of this amazing farming family. I treasure this cookbook and recommend it for it's wonderful recipes. I also recommend a visit to their family farm. Thank you Sarah!

About 6 months ago we booked three nights at Fattoria Poggio Alloro for an upcoming family trip to Italy (only one week away as I write this!). At the time we heard something about an upcoming cook book, and a while ago I pre-ordered this book on Amazon.

First, this book is GORGEOUS! Wonderful pictures, well designed, well made. It is a credit to both Sarah and the publishers.

This book is, however, MUCH more than a mere cookbook. Both my wife and I commented that it was more like listening to a friend tell us about the interesting things that happened that day, or recalling events from years ago. She tells us about the work on the farm, stories about her childhood, as well as humorous events involving family and friends.

Though we haven't been to Tuscany quite yet, I have to believe that this book absolutely captures the soul of that region. Reading this book has certainly increased our anticipation for our visit to their farm and the Tuscan countryside. I imagine that anyone that has been to that area would love this book; reading it would be like a visit back to Tuscany.

I was fortunate enough to have met Sarah at the Italian Life Expo in Portland, ME last summer. She was there selling some of the products from her farm. It was a pleasure meeting her and her cousin Marco. When I heard she was writing a book, there was no question in my mind I was going to purchase a copy. I attended a book signing in Bath, ME The book turned out to be much more than a cookbook. There are many recipes and beautiful photographs of food, family, and farm life. She writes as if she's with you recounting her family stories and drawing you in making you wish you were actually there. She makes me miss Italy and yearn to be back for more. I have visited Italy 4 times in the past 4 years traveling to Sicily, Tuscany, Levico in northern Italy and Rome but never to Sarah's family farm. I hope during my next visit to make it there. I was also impressed by all her accomplishments that I was unaware of until I read about them in her book. When you read her book you will know what an endearing person she is. I would recommend this book whether or not you have ever been to Tuscany. If you haven't, it will surely make you want to plan your next trip there. Sarah's recipes are classic to the region and her instructions are easy to follow. The photographs are plentiful and beautiful. If you love Italian food, this book is a must for you. From her family to yours, Sarah's book introduces you to her family farm in Tuscany!

Our family enjoyed a wonderful tour and lunch at Fattoria Poggio Alloro this summer. The photos in this wonderful book capature the atmosphere and scenery that we enjoyed during our visit. The book expands on the history and growth of the farm operation that we heard about on our tour. The receipes allow us to enjoy the flavors we tasted during lunch. Even if you have never been at the farm, Sarah writes so that you can feel the warmth and happiness of her family that has created a special place.

We had the pleasure of visiting Fattoria Poggio Alloro last summer on our trip to Italy. It was an amazing experience, the food was delicious, the wine was incredible and the farm is in one of the most beautiful places we've ever been. The book "A Family Farm in Tuscany" made me feel like I was there again. The stories of Sarah's family are heartwarming and make us want to visit again! I recently decided to make all the recipes in the book, the Melanzane alla Parmigiana was absolutely delicious. This is a wonderful book about a family living their dream in Tuscany and a cookbook all in one, what could be better!

I was looking forward to trying the recipes presented in this book, but what really took this book from good to great, was learning about the history of Fattoria Poggio Alloro. You know the old adage that when you're with us, you're with family? When you make Sarah's divine recipes, it's like having the entire Fioroni family sitting around the table with you. Very rarely is there a book that shares so much love with the reader. Strongly recommend. Terri Altergott
