1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money. Rental alert. December 7, 2011
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
My 6 year old is a huge fan of previous FGN games, and the TV show...so, this should have been all awesome. But it is not.

First, the Kinect controls are the worst I have ever experienced. We spent about 10 minutes trying to get the game to recognize us. Finally, after that passed we got to the game experience and it was terrible. Most kinect games are a little laggy, but this was aweful. Wow.

Luckily, you can play with a standard control. So we did.

The good news is that the games when played with a standard controller are not bad. The bad news is that once you've played through the games there is no reason to ever play them again. They are simple, simple, simple and you will not want to play this after you've played it once.

I rented this from Gamefly, and thank goodness for that. I would highly recommend the first family game night, especially Sorry Sliders. But this one is a big mistep.

2.0 out of 5 stars So Glad I Rented It First... November 20, 2011
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
I really wanted to add this game to my Christmas list it looked like a lot of fun and I have always been a huge fan of board games even at 23 but I am so glad that I rented this first.
I was really disappointed on so many levels.

Cons:
*Not XBL compatible I wanted to play online with friends/others online.
*The Achievements are very vague so many times I completed what they asked yet didn't receive my points only to find out you had to be in a certain mode of the game.
* Slow response time/game play. Almost seems rigged? Connect 4 basketball you would have to wait for the opponent to shoot before you could you couldn't just fire the shots off one after another. Bop it after playing multiple times I knew exactly where the computer was going to mess up.
* Had some trouble with it reading the Kinect sensor esp on bop it. However the main problem was that itd pause and then id have to try to get the sensor to recognize me or sign back in again to resume play. VERY ANNOYING. Its also VERY touchy making some games really hard to play like selecting the pins to put back in Yahtzee..the screen was over crowded it would put back the wrong pin (easy to undo) but then you had the point guide on the right side and the confirm button on the left and it (the xbox) just got confused as to what you were trying to do.
* Tutorials.. how am I suppose to know what to do??? Yes it shows you pictures but so many times I did what the pictures were showing with no response. Once you figure it out its not hard but still would have been helpful.
* I HATE the fact that it really doesn't matter how many games you win if you don't have the "cash card" in the end you loose overall even if your opponent only one one match ..

3.0 out of 5 stars An Average Kinect Game - Nothing Special! November 12, 2011
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 3.0 out of 5 stars
As soon as I saw Family Game Night was on the Kinect, I had to get it. I love games on the Kinect and thought this would be the perfect game for the Kinect. The Family Game Night 4 game is fun but can get very boring very quickly. The games include Sorry Sliders, Connect4 Basketball, BopIt, Bowling Yahtzee, and Scrabble Flash. The Sorry Sliders game is one of the most disappointing games since the announcer dude says the same thing everytime and thats get very old very quickly. The BopIt game would be awesome but when you play alone they put someone with you and if they make a mistake the game is over. They make a mistake very early in the game everytime. The Connect4 Basketball game is very fun, and had me saying some bad words since the computer kept beating me. I have finally caught on to the game and can beat the computer very easily now. I am hoping they update the game in the near future with some more levels and allow to you choose the strength of the computer, and some more options for the games. Scrabble flash really makes you think and is fun.

1.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't play with 2 people February 18, 2012
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
My 7 year old daughter and I finally tried to play this Christmas gift to her today together and after 30 minutes of trying to get both people in the frame to play we gave up. What a waste of $40 on something called Family Game Night!. Works fine with a single player, just not 2 together. Very disappointed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Family Lame Night 4 November 17, 2011
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
I had high expectations for this game and I bought it when it first came out, without finding any reviews on the web. Wish I would have waited. It was a waste of $40. The controls are horrible for the most part. In Sorry Sliders, you have to push a game piece onto a target, kind of like shuffle board. We either pushed too soft so the game piece never made it to the target or we pushed too hard and it overshot. It was hard trying to figure out the movements for each game as well, you don't get a tutorial, you are just dumped into the game. The Connect 4 was probably the best game as targeting the hole you wanted was not too bad. The scrabble game was hard because you had very little time to grab your letters and move them where they needed to go, it was very frustrating. The bop it game was hard to figure out the moves required. The bowling game was the worst. You don't throw the ball down the lane like in Kinect Sports, you push it down the lane, very lame and the movement for trying to decide if you want to keep a dice or reroll was VERY difficult to do and caused major frustration. It was horribly implemented. I'm going to take it to Gamestop this weekend and I hope I can get at least half my money back in credit. I do not recommend this game at all.

2.0 out of 5 stars Family of 2? Find a 4 player game
Only two players - not quite family game night as we have to take turns in pairs when it would be so much fun to play the four of us together.

3.0 out of 5 stars OK
I like the game but it's only two player. Wouldn't the title of "family" imply more than two? I wish it was a four player game.

Sorry to say, but this game stinks. I bought this for bowling and Yahtzee, and neither are your typical style for those games. Very boring; all the games are too short. Read more
