2.0 out of 5 stars Disapointing to say the least
I'm a premiere fan. When the show started to get less funny, last season-I just put up with it. I told myself it was funny just because I've loved this show for so long and didn't want to break the bond. The show has grown out of it's witty, slap-stick humor and is now depending on pushing the envelope to make people laugh. To me, that's cheating. It's the equivelant of...

Definitely the highlights of this volume are the incredible Stewie Kills Lois/Lois Kills Stewie episodes. I remember watching "Stewie Kills Lois" when it first aired and I was blown away (well not as blown away as Lois) and I couldn't wait for the conclusion after the courtroom cliffhanger. They were the debut of the season seven, right? (I can't keep track of which season is which on Family Guy anymore). Did you ever wonder what would happen if the Griffins actually knew Stewie's evil intentions? Well, you'll find out in these episodes without future episodes being jeopardized. Yes, things will return to "normal," but, as Stewie says, he hopes you'll enjoy the ride. I found it funny (and a little odd) that "Stewie Kills Lois" re-aired on Mother's Day. I have the Target special edition of this volume which includes a cool mini poster featuring those episodes. This volume also includes the last we'll see (I guess) of Brian's short lived romance with Jillian. I wish that were not the case because she was hilarious! Anyway, here is what you get with Volume Six:

Disc 1:
"No Meals On Wheels"--The Griffins open up a restaurant. To boost the low turnout, Joe offers to make "Big Pete's House of Munch" the new hangout for his buddies...but not his cop buddies. That "Cripple Tron" was pretty stupid.
"Boys Do Cry"--Lois tries out for the new church organist (highlight: Herbert plays and sings "I Know What Boys Like") and when she gets the job, she forces her family to go to church. When Stewie spits up the communion wine, he's believed to be possessed by the devil, so the Griffins flee to a more tolerant part of the country...Texas. This was a good one until Gilbert Gottfried ended it on a stupid note.
"No Chris Left Behind"--Chris is expelled from James Woods High School for being the dumbest student. He ends up at his grandfather Pewterschmidt's alma mater Morningwood Academy, but is hazed for being poor. Highlight: Stewie as King Friday. Oh, and am I the only one who hates that fighting chicken?
"It Takes a Village Idiot, and I Married One"--While vacationing at Quagmire's cabin, the Griffins swim in a toxic lake. After an Amadeus parody (they sure grew back their hair fast), Lois is outraged when Mayor West tells her he is allowing oil companies to dump waste in the lake. Lois decides to run against him, but will she be just as susceptible to corruption?
"Meet The Quagmires"--In this "Back to the Future" parody, Peter gets death to let him go back in time to 1984 so he can have fun during his bachelor years. When he turns down Lois for a date, he finds he has changed the future. Peter is now married to Molly Ringwald and Lois is Mrs. Glenn Quagmire! Highlight: Peter keeps going back in time to fix his mistake and keeps making the same mistake (he makes Homer Simpson seem like a genius).

Disc 2:
"Movin' Out (Brian's Song)"--Brian tries to prove he's serious about Jillian by moving in with her. Meanwhile, Meg gets a job at a convenience store, but when she gets Chris a job, she ends up fired while Chris and the boss talk movies all day. I didn't like the ending because I liked Jillian as Brian's airheaded girlfriend.
"Believe It Or Not, Joe's Walking On Air"--Ha! They got the title from "The Greatest American Hero." Highlights: Fred Flintstone confesses something shocking about Betty to Barney Rubble, Dr. Hartman and Mr. Pewterschmidt's voice comparison, frogs on vacation in Ethiopia. Out of guilt for holding Bonnie back, Joe undergoes an experimental procedure to get his legs back, but ends up walking out on his friends and family (get it? "walking out").
"Stewie Kills Lois"--Now for the highlight episodes of the season. Lois and Peter go on a cruise without Stewie. Stewie is so mad he threatens ruthless revenge, but Brian doesn't believe he really means it so he dares him to really go through with it. Stewie: "I did it! I killed her! She's dead! Ha, Ha, Ha!... [falls]... Ow! Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!...Oh yeah, that's right." The cliffhanger to this episode is awesome!
"Lois Kills Stewie"--Stewie looks like he has finally taken over the world, but there is one last hurdle: the final showdown with Lois. I don't remember seeing the "Never Will Be Missed" musical number during the TV airing.
"Padre De Familia"--After a Veteran's Day parade, Peter becomes a rabid American patriot who goes on a campaign against all illegal aliens...until his mother gives him some shocking news.
"Peter's Daughter"--After Meg almost dies in a flash flood, Peter becomes overprotective, especially when she wants to date a young, handsome doctor (why he would want to date Meg is never explained). Meanwhile, Stewie and Brian fix up an old house.

Disc 3:
"McStroke"--Peter joins the mustache lifestyle, which includes stepping in as a volunteer fireman and saving a man from a burning McBurgertown. Given a lifetime of free burgers, Peter eats so much he suffers a stroke and decides to sue the restaurant. His case is aided by a talking cow he finds in "Dacow." Included is a parody of those chase scenes from "The Monkees." Meanwhile, Stewie becomes the popular high school student, Zack Sawyer, but doesn't fare well at "Anal Point."
Special Features--OK, one episode on a DVD seems like a gyp, but there are a lot of extras on this disc. They include, and are not limited to, "Family Guy 100th Episode Special," "I'm Huge (and the babes go wild)" music video, "Family Guy Live-Just For Laughs," and my favorite part of the bonus features: "Deleted Scenes" of which there are lots.

4.0 out of 5 stars Season Vs. Volume confusion, November 27, 2008
By
This review is from: Family Guy, Vol. 6 (DVD)
People who are complaining that they left episodes off this set have a somewhat valid gripe. The thing is, the Family Guy series is sold in "volumes" as opposed to "seasons" like other shows (this was primarily done because of the short length of the first two seasons (volume 1 DVD)). The problem is that this made the volumes be one number behind the seasons (volume 2 is season 3, volume 3 is season 4, etc). Now it seems they have decided to put a certain number of episodes in each set, regardless of the season they were on. Family Guy Volume 5 has most of season 5 (as according to the season episodes list on [...] except the final five episodes. The volume 6 set starts with those five episodes and goes into season six from there, which is why some season 6 episodes are missing. I suspect they may be doing this to bring the "volume numbers" to be the the same as the "season numbers" so there's less confusion. I don't know for sure. But I'm fairly confident that the missing episodes from this set will be on Volume 7. Hope this helps people. While I don't necessarily trust the people who put out the DVDs, I do believe that Seth MacFarlane and the rest of the people behind the show would not allow the fans to lose out, especially sinc the fans are the reason the show came back with new episodes (a fact that MacFarlane always mentions).

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 stars for the show only, not the DVD!, July 24, 2008
This review is from: Family Guy, Vol. 6 (DVD)
Don't believe all of the hype! They are leaving 4 episodes off of this set. So, once again we have to deal with their [..]! Look over at TV.com, under family guy and read the episode discriptions. The people who decide which episodes go on these dvd's should be fired! We shouldn't have to deal with these partial seasons [..]!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Still a good and funny show...problems with the DVD., October 21, 2008

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Family Guy, Vol. 6 (DVD)
I just purchased this last night and I really do enjoy the unrated and uncut episodes. Even though I have watched all of these episodes on T.V I do like purchasing the DVDs to see the full episodes the way in which Seth McFarland & Co originally envisioned them. Yes, Family Guy is full of crude and irreverent humor poking fun at popular culture and everyone under the sun. I know that it is not everyone's cup O'tea, but if it is, you'll find much to laugh at. I still find the show funny and feel that they have not lost their sense of humor. Some of my all time favorite episodes are on this set.

I do not give this DVD set 5 stars because of a couple of facts. Yes, because they do not release the entire season is one of them. It does create a problem though. As long as we continue to buy them then Paramount will continue to do this. So, what are we to do? Just a little venting. Other than that the only problem I have with this set is that the sound doesn't seem mixed correctly. There are times for example, on the opening theme song, when Stewie sings his solo line "Laugh and Cry" is hardly audible. I wonder if this is a problem anyone else has?

Overall I am happy with this set and hope Family Guy continues for a long while.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome and Uncensored, November 17, 2008
This review is from: Family Guy, Vol. 6 (DVD)
This DVD was awesome and I enjoyed it completely. The episodes are funny, sick, and uncensored. I do not regret purchasing this wonderful volume, for a true family guy fan this is a great box set. Every single episode has made me chuckle and are enjoyable to watch over and over again. The only gripe is the special features, couldn't they have put more material in this box set? Next time they should put more features that are better and with more variety. But this is a good buy, go get it.

The show has grown out of it's witty, slap-stick humor and is now depending on pushing the envelope to make people laugh. To me, that's cheating. It's the equivelant of POP OUT SCARY horror movies. You don't need to shock an audience to get a reaction. I don't understand in this season where the family guy crew gets off on calling out Sopranos and Entourage-two of the most flawless shows on TV. And always taking shots at the Simpsons? I'm not a huge Simpsons fan, infact-I don't own a single season-I own every family guy disc there is. But what I do know is The Simpson's has been around longer than any other show in existance. That should show for something right? In conclusion; very disapointed. I tried so hard to think otherwise. Also-I never leave reviews, but it was just too much.

1.0 out of 5 stars Just not funny anymore, January 1, 2009
This review is from: Family Guy, Vol. 6 (DVD)
Family Guy has lost a lot of its humor in this...volume? Season? Quit preaching politics and just make me laugh. The 13 episodes on a volume sucks too. Sorry to those who don't mind, but it is a rip off, whether it's Fox or the creators. I loved this show. I have all the previous volumes/seasons, but now I just see a political agenda. Sorry again, I watched this show to be entertained not forced to listen to someone else's political ideology and it has become worse. These episodes just aren't humorous or memorable to me. I once thought myself to be a diehard fan, but sadly I can't call myself that anymore. I don't find myself laughing nearly as much and that is sad indeed. I await the day Family Guy returns and Political Dude goes off the air. Sorry fans of Family Guy, it's not what it used to be. I understand the negative feedback I'll receive, it's just the show doesn't entertain ME anymore.

3.0 out of 5 stars Family Guy Volume 6, May 5, 2009

This review is from: Family Guy, Vol. 6 (DVD)
Disappointed....I really am. Not as funny and edgy. Cost is too high, and I do NOT like the way they split the season and then charge you a small fortune for the volume. It had its moments of being funny, but I believe that there were too many episodes in volume 6 that just were not good! What more can I say!?

5.0 out of 5 stars Family Guy Does It Again, December 3, 2008
By
This review is from: Family Guy, Vol. 6 (DVD)
There's a reason why Seth MacFarlane is one of the highest paid writers in Hollywood today. Family Guy continues to be a fun and brilliant show. This volume even includes the 100th episode, which is hilarious. Those who are fans of Family Guy and continue to be fans of Family Guy will love this new edition to the Family Guy dvds. The only disappointment is that Blue Harvest wasn't included on the DVD since it was the seasons first episode. Otherwise it delivers all the humor you would expect from Family Guy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mixed bag, October 30, 2008

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Family Guy, Vol. 6 (DVD)
Ever since creator Seth Mcfarlane started American Dad, Family Guy has been a mixed bag. Some epsiodes are funny and others are dreadful. This set contains alot of shows that are dreadful and not alot i'd consider good. They actually made bonus features worth watching, the other season bonus features were scarce and not worth watching.

Why does Family Guy add a curse word to each show? I swear and dont mind if people swear, but I think they do it so people can buy the dvd sets or seem cool to a younger crowd. I've only can recall a few times where swearing was a funny. Other parts seemed to do it to fill the quota of one swear per show. The jokes have even been more over the top and tasteless. I think some are funny but alot people find are uncalled for. I find alot of people hate the tasteless jokes and thats the reason why they stopped watching the show. I think Seth and his staff need to sit down and watch seasons 1-3 and remember why people loved this show.
