Book Description

October 20, 2006
If you are building or renovating a home, consider what Eliza Cross Castaneda has to say about the New West home. She describes western homes as more informal, more open and more functional than many eastern styles. Natural materials--clay walls, stone, terra-cotta, and wood--are a big part of the Western-look home.

4.0 out of 5 stars Family Home of the New West, April 1, 2007
This review is from: Family Home of the New West (Paperback)
A lovely book that blends the old with the new. While my home is not as grand as those pictured, I was happy to see many items that I have pictured with newer and more efficient appliances, lighting and fixtures. The excellent photos depict the use of what you might have; a lovely antique that isn't southwest, an assortment of mix-matched chairs for the dining room that just work. Bright, bold colors surrounded by natural wood, antlers, stone and wrought iron give many of the rooms a welcome, come in and enjoy look. A newbie to decorating with a Southwestern theme or one that has decorated /lived in the Southwest for decades will enjoy this book. I have mine on the coffee table.

Love this book! Owners are using more punchy colors which I like, and innovative ways of decorating. It is one of my favorite books to view.
