Grade 2-5 A look at the work, home, school, and leisure activities of one Kpelle tribal family in Liberia. The main text has no reference to the political climate existing between the native Liberian tribes and the Americo-Liberian settlers, but a one-page ``History of Liberia'' at the end of the text includes a statement about the military coup of 1980 and the national elections of 1985. Dark, underexposed photographs and a brief ``facts'' page are of limited value. There are no chapter headings, index, glossary, or contents page. Clifford's Land and People of Liberia (Lippincott, 1971; o.p.) and Carpenter's Liberia (Children, 1974; o.p.) remain useful texts on Liberia for upper intermediate readers. Eunice Weech, M. L.
