Book Description

Harlequin Super Romance November 1, 2004

Uncle Knows Best?

Part-time caregiver Thea Gayle is left to care for two young girls who've been abandoned by their father. She turns to the man who is the only family the twins have—their uncle, Logan McCall. But is Logan—a wildland firefighter who is never home—up to the job? Thea has to know, because she won't leave the twins with someone else who is going to let them down.

Logan's been in a slump ever since his twin sister died. The biggest mistake of his life was allowing his nieces to be taken away, all because he thought he couldn't raise them on his own. He's going to try to make it right this time, by giving the girls—and Thea—the happiest home he can.

More About the Author

Melinda Curtis loves writing romances about women who don't realize how strong they are until a hero comes along to show them, while simultaneously capturing the wry humorous power struggle of falling in love (because, really, who lets the man have the last word?).

5.0 out of 5 stars #2 IN THE STORIES OF THE WILDLAND FIREFIGHTERS, January 27, 2006

Well I have done it again - just read #2 in the story line of the "HOT SHOT" wildland firefighters of Silver Bend, Idaho.
Have to get #1 -- Getting Married Again. [Jackson Garrett]

Thea Gayle has taken on a job of nanny to a pair of twin ten year old girls, only, doggone it, their father has disappeared and left them with no money.

The girls, Hannah and Tess, just lost their mother about 6 months ago and are still trying to survive their grief.
Hannah wants to go home - to her uncle, Logan McCall, twin to their mother.

Logan, himself is trying to work through his grief, and had let the girl's father, Wes take them. He had a broken leg at the time.
He is fighting to keep his ungovernable temper in check and is afraid he will turn out like his father. A definite abuser.

He is afraid to have the girls stay with him. And he can't stand anything light and happy.

We meet the leader of the Hot Shots, Jackson Garrett alias Golden, Cole Hudson alias Chainsaw a class A falle, Aiden Rodas alias Spider [dresses in black]- there is wonderful team commaraderie and concern for each other.
"Spider" keeps goading "Tin Man" and tempers do fly.

Logan "Tin Man" does not know how to help his nieces get past their grieving because he can't get past his own. It takes Thea to shake him up and try to help them find their way.

Logan, 31, just wants Thea gone, not that he doesn't want to get laid but she is a forever kind of gal.
Thea, at 27, wants someone to love and to love her. She wants marriage and a family and her Ph.D.
Tess will not trust her uncle to be there for her and her sister. He sent them away once before.

This is a very emotional, definitely a twin thing as even Aunt Glen was a twin to Logan's mother.

Does not the ability to produce twins not run in the female side of the family? The male cannot contol the production of twins, right? Anyway ----------

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - definitely collect these stories. [Spider is next]
