5.0 out of 5 stars It just keeps getting better and better!, November 21, 2003
This review is from: Family Math II: Achieving Success in Mathematics (Paperback)
It just keeps getting better and better! I do not know about you, but I definitely would rather PLAY than sit and DO school...Although, FAMILY MATH II: Achieving Success in Mathematics follows the same general format as its predecessors, FAMILY MATH for Young Children, FAMILY MATH, and FAMILY MATH-The Middle School Years, it is even easier to use (if that can be done). Again, you will need access to a copier and some simple household items, but substitutions work just as well and are even encouraged in some cases!

Instead of a bar graph, grade levels are clearly written below each game title in a small circle. Highlighted skills are grouped together under four main categories: Probability and Statistics Introduction, Algebraic and Logical Thinking Introduction, Number Sense Introduction, and Geometry Introduction.

With game titles like Ice Cream Cone Math and Baseball Cards there is something to appeal to even the most reluctant math student! For those who cannot bear to be inside on a sunny day a section is included which highlights games that are done outside using sidewalk chalk. A student and parent may complete the activities or a group of students. It all is so much fun that you just might forget that you are actually learning! FAMILY MATH II makes it easy to see why they subtitled this one Achieving Success in Mathematics.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for homeschooling!, April 18, 2011
This review is from: Family Math II: Achieving Success in Mathematics (Paperback)
We LOVE this book! To the previous reviewer...WOW! Your preschooler knows statistics, multiplication, fractions, money, algebra AND permutations??? Well, for everyone else this book is awesome! My 6 yr old loves the activities and never tires of this fun math program. I would highly recommend this entire series. BTW, Spaghetti Geometry is 4 pages. ;)

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this book, September 7, 2006
This review is from: Family Math II: Achieving Success in Mathematics (Paperback)
I don't know what planet the editorial reviewer is from but there was NO resemblance between the book they wrote about and the one I received. There is absolutely NO way this book is useful for other than preschoolers. One whole chapter is full of the brilliant idea of using spaghetti to demonstrate geometry. And this is supposed to be for 4th and 5th graders. This kind of stuff is plentiful on internet sites - free... Most of the rest is full of the same kind of filler stuff. Content is supposed to be up to grade 6 but the exercises suggested are one per age group and to my kids way too easy for their age. There is absolutely nothing in this book that isn't already on internet sites and free and NOTHING to justify it's price! What a disappointment and waste of money.
