This review is from: Family Matters (Audio CD)
I have quite a bit of JLH's recorded music, having begun my appreciation of him with "Endless Boogie" back in the day. I knew nothing of Earl Hooker until now. This release is pretty much a waste of time. Perhaps I made a mistake by playing T.B. Sheets first, as interested as I was in hearing JLH's version of this classic by Van Morrison, with whom he made so much great music. Half of this "version" is onstage screwing around, and the actual rendition of the material is a pale mishmash of a few chords and butchering of the lyrics and spirit of the song. The rest of the album is "OK" at best......nothing to see here, folks, move along now....
