4.0 out of 5 stars Good "best of " Collection
This CD has most of the songs I liked from their other albums, without the borderline/questionable ones I used to skip over for the kids (because they were too scary or gross for my 4-year-olds, like "the cat came back" or the one that said "I'd rather eat boogers..."). I didn't realize it was a _live_ album until I bought it. They should have done...

3.0 out of 5 stars good, but not their best
We are major fans of TFA, but were a little disappointed that this CD contained so much previously recorded material. We were expecting to hear new songs. Nowhere in the promo did we read that we would be buying our same favorite old songs, just recorded in concert with live audience. Still, I'm a fan.

They should have done the little "we're the only ones who do a nursery-rhyme polka" explanation before launching into "out the window". (I love that bit). They should also have included the "Guess I need a bandaid" song - that would have upped my rating to 5 stars...but it's a VERY good, very "must-have" album for anyone who has to spend time in the car with 4-10 year olds a lot...funny for both kids and adults!

5.0 out of 5 stars kids music for adults, May 10, 2004
This review is from: Family Music Party (Audio CD)
For everyone who has ever said "not AGAIN" when loading traditional "kids" music in the car, this is the album for your family. We got ours on cassette and wore it out; we're still not tired of it. Who can resist a group that counts to 18 in roman numerals and gets it right? The songs are singable, danceable, and great fun. It's got just the right mix of fast and slow, silly and serious, and none of the annoying frenetic goofiness often heard in kids albums.

5.0 out of 5 stars Terrific Trout, August 30, 2001
By A Customer
This is children's music that even Mom and Dad can enjoy. I find myself listening to it even when the kids aren't in the car and so does my husband!! The songs have a great sense of wonder and innocence (gee, not much of that around these days) without being too sugary!! The Kids absolutly love it and it certainly is a great deal of fun. My particular favorite song on this CD is "My World" as it not only gives kids something to relate to, but also reminds us grown ups what it is like to be a child. I also like "Back When I could Fly" and the whole family loves "My Hair Had a Party". This is a great addition to any family's musical collection!!!

If you haven't seen these guys live, this is the next best thing! The songs are touching at times, funny, upbeat, and interactive! You don't have to be a kid to love TFIA- the parents at the concerts are as into the whole thing as are their children. This CD has all the best of their best!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Album, especially for kids, November 26, 1998

As a 10 year fan of Trout Fishing in America, I can unequivocally say that this is my favorite band of all time. I see them live whenever they come thru Texas. This album is a good childrens album, with lots of songs you can sing along with (even if you don't have kids).

If you are looking for more adult songs, check out "Who Are These People?", "Truth Is Stranger Than Fishing", or "Over the Limit".

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun fof everyone in the car!, July 2, 2002
This review is from: Family Music Party (Audio CD)
This is one collection that will have you whistling and singing silly songs at work. Even the kids like it! Mine range from 4-13, and all of them ask for it every time we go someplace. Favorites are "18 wheels on a big rig", "My hair had a party last night", and "My World". These guys are a scream. Find them in concert!

5.0 out of 5 stars You'll still love this the hundredth time you hear it, October 18, 1999

Trout Fishing in America are one of the few bands that can truly please both kids and parents. The tunes are infectious and the humor sly. This album catches the giddy fun of their live show. Buy this cd.

Love, love, love!!! I have given this CD numerous times as a gift. Just a great collection of songs! I DARE you to NOT try to count along with 18 Wheels on a Big Rig!

For "adult" Trout, check out "Reel Life"...I listen to it all the time, even after owning it for about 7 years now. Enjoy!

I have five children 13,11, 9,6,4 every single one of them LOVES this CD. They all laugh out loud and sing along. Makes our 1/2 hour drive home from school bearable every day!
Highly recommended. I do not usually like live albums, but I think some of the songs are even better than the non-live versions.
Lots of fun.
UPDATE
OK, I said I didn't like live albums, but this one was great. I just saw them in concert for the first time and now understand why this one is so great. Live performances are what they do BEST and this CD really catches that.
They were amazing performers, extremely nice guys and I hope they are performing for many years to come. Keith and Ezra..we love you!!
This is definitely a great CD to introduce people to Trout.
