Book Description

January 14, 1997
The reunion is a worldwide phenomenon celebrating life, treasured memories, enduring relationships, shared experiences, and the unique bonds that have held groups of people together. For families, the reunion is a living tapestry of decades past and futures beckoning, an opportunity to revisit intimate history and the foundations upon which many lives have been built. Planning and hosting such an important event require superior organizing skills, dedicated attention to detail, and the ability to reinforce and reaffirm the ties that have shaped your family.

The Family Reunion Planner is a comprehensive step-by-step guide that explores all the facets of creating and hosting a successful family reunion, including:

  • Selecting the type of reunion, from simple picnics to more elaborate weekend gatherings
  • Organizing attendance and compiling guest lists
  • Locating relatives
  • Planning budgets
  • Creating menus and buying gifts
  • Selecting themes and activities
  • Communicating with the family throughout the year via postcards, flyers, and newsletters
  • Compiling a recorded history of the event using the written word, photographs, and videos
  • And much more

Indispensaable and one-of-a-kind, The Family Reunion Planner is the perfect resource for anyone—from the seasoned party planner to the first-time host—considering organizing a family reunion.

5.0 out of 5 stars In Memory of My Grandma, January 15, 2000
By
Bridget Felder (United States of America) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Family Reunion Planner (Paperback)
To begin with, in memory of my grandmother, I was searching for a book that could assist me with planning a family reunion from top to bottom. This book does this and more. Beasley begins by discussing planning committees and gradally moves on to very important issues such as money matters, record keeping, and preservation concerns.

Without a doubt, this family reunion planner will definitely be a great source for beginning family reunions. The author prepares a solid foundation for those who desire to unite the family through reunions. Thank you Beasley.

3.0 out of 5 stars A starting point, June 27, 2004
This review is from: The Family Reunion Planner (Paperback)
If you are planning your first reunion this book is a good starting point. However, you shouldn't rely on it completely. While it has some good ideas and gets you thinking about the beauty of strong families it's not very strong on details. For solid information about dealing with hotels, DJs, photographers and the bank I had to buy other books. Again, this is a fine book to get you started but you'll need more than this to actually pull off a medium to large family reunion.
