Although Mom will still most likely be the primary crafter of these pages, the fun and simple layouts, the good directions, and the beginner-friendly materials (lots of stickers, patterned papers, and punched shapes) mean that other family members can easily get involved, even without any prior crafting experience. The authors generally succeed in avoiding the overcrowded look prevalent in many books on the subject, where the photos often seem to get lost amid all the embellishments. Helpful tips scattered throughout the project pages give further good advice, such as photographing children in bright clothing, which will help to set a color theme for the subsequent scrapbook page. --Amy Handy --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

projects for the novice to the most experienced,

This book appeals to several levels of scrapbooking, from one who has just started the craft with simple but a nice looking page to the more advanced page with lots of detail. I noted several ideas in the book which were different than other instructional books and ordered two additional books for my sisters in law, for their birthdays. This is an opportunity to have get togethers involving scrapbooking. We pool our recent purchases, saving money as the authors suggest then refer to the book to give us many ideas to create pages by doing as a group. We found it is faster to develop an identical page for each family in a shorter amount of time as was suggested, which we liked. Our kids have fun getting together and doing the craft as a group at an additional table so they can use our supplies and tools too. This book is very well laid out with easy to follow directions, thanks to the many shortcuts and inovative ways to use the scrapbook supplies. Its the first book which we refer to for the most ideas. Money well spent!

Great Scrapbooking Ideas,
By Nancy Chartrand (California) - See all my reviews

Stephanie and her mother have come up with some very clever and cute ideas for scrapbooking. They have a particularly cute page with a park scene and easy to follow instructions. They also have some neat ideas on how to incorporate your child's art work into scrapbooking pages. The thing I like best about the book is that the pages are not too complicated or time consuming and an amature like me can do them. I have ordered them for all of my relatives for Christmas, because they like the book so well.

Ways to Breath Life into Your Family Photos,
By Barbara Smith (Brusseks) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Family Scrapbooking: Fun Projects to Do Together (Hardcover)
I bought this book last summer and must admit, it has been fun trying to make the most of our family photos. We love the themes as they fit with our "games" approach to family activities. The book gives terrific craft ideas that anyone can do! It also presents a very positive image of family living. I'm sending copies to friends and family as great holiday gifts.
