Many are disappointed that the songs aren't included which I can understand. The original instrumental score by Michael Giacchino is what is included here. Although a soundtrack album can contain dialog only, score only, song only or a combination of any, this album is a score only soundtrack album (which most are), but yes it is still the soundtrack of the film, just not with the song elements! Unlike what someone said previously, there is only one classical piece on the album, the rest is instrumental score. Just because something is instrumental doesn't mean it's classical, so don't think you're getting a classical album either!

Anyway, light and at times moving score by MG.

The score for this film fit the emotional, heart warming, and funny feel that this amazing movie gave. I loved the film and loved the music.

When I saw this movie, I just had to buy the soundtrack. The music is beautiful and powerful, but just toooooo short. A son was like, 40 seconds long. I was really dissapointed by this, but still... buy this. It's very excellent and divine

Maxine Nightengale singing Right Back Where We Started From is what you're looking for. That's the song I wanted too as well as the one by Elvin Bishop. Anyway, enjoy!

The soundtrack is really good, but the songs in the movie aren't really on the soundtrack. It is all classical music. It's really good though.

Michael Giacchino is a musical genius. I am a HUGE LOST fan and was not surprised when I looked up The Family Stone soundtrack, he was the guy behind the music. This is a great soundtrack and I agree with others that its a great for listening for the winter months, especially the holidays.

This soundtrack is really a score; meaning of course that it is only music without any singing. The songs are presented in the same sequence as the movie itself which is especially nice. This helps you to tie the storyline associated with each song as you listen through.

The movie itself is at times wacky, uplifting, or heart warming. At other times, it is achingly sad depending upon the part of the story that it is tied to. It tells a great Christmas story that captures the dysfunctionality of today's family without making any attempts to be too dysfunctional. This score beautifully supports this story in a way that is not too much and not too little. It is a perfect way to sneak a little "Christmas in July" without people wondering why you are listening to it.

All in all, this music helps you to appreciate more deeply what is most important about Christmas and about life in general. I am pleased to give this wonderful score five full stars and I hope that you enjoy it.

P.S. This score is pretty expensive at $23.99 and I would not typically buy something at this price point. I would buy THIS album but only because I knew what I was getting in advance. I can certainly understand why someone would shy away. It was worth it to me though. If you loved the movie then it will be worth it to you as well.

I really enjoyed this album. I loved the movie and part of the reason I loved it so much was because of the music. It is just the instrumental music, so people wanting to find the other music in the movie will be disappointed. Overall, a great buy!
