A must read for counseling professionals, April 13, 2008
This review is from: Family Therapy with Suicidal Adolescents (Hardcover)
Dr. Jurich provides ways to start communicating effectively with teenagers, and practical suggestions on how to "reach" them when on the edge. This is a "must read" for all helping professionals (and a `MUST' for students). The book provides systemic, cognitive, and behavioral interventions to bring about positive outcomes in your work with struggling adolescents. The highlight is helping suicidal adolescents, but I think the techniques and expertise offered in the book could be very valuable when working with adolescents struggling from other problems as well. Great contribution to working with adolescent at risk. Lastly, it's a great start if you struggle understanding adolescents, yet it is complex enough that it provides great tips and insight for professionals who might have experience working with adolescent. Highly recommended.
