Family Time Fun Gather Round Dinner Game

My son loves it. We play it almost every night. It helps to keep us talking about our day, which most families failed to do.

I purchased this game at a store and our family has had so much fun with it, I bought several for Christmas and Birthday presents to family and friends this past year. Everyone has told me how much fun they are having with the game as well. I like the variety of prompts from everyone singing a song to getting an extra story at bedtime to helping with the dishes to naming as many Presidents as you can as a family. The kids stay at the table longer and it takes the focus off of the food and how much they are eating and how fast to communicating as a family and just having fun together. Our game is proudly displayed in the middle of our kitchen table and we play it every time we have dinner.

The concept of this game is to get everyone talking and laughing around the dinner table. If you left my husband and I to ourselves we'd probably talk for a few minutes with our 6 year old and then invariably start talking about our day which is not exactly the most exciting dinner table topic. So when we got this game it was a nice surprise how engaging it was for all the family members including my husband who's usually got his eyes glued to the TV during dinner time! In fact it was so much fun that my 6 year old started asking for more food just so he could continue sitting at the table and playing. I would recommend it for everyone, especially families like ours who don't usually have much to say at the table during meals.

The reason I don't think it's so durable is because the cards can get dirty if you're not careful while changing them at the table. Otherwise the actual container is pretty sturdy. If they made an automatic speaking question box for the dinner table then it would immediately replace this version in my house.

We take it out on occasion and my son really enjoys it. Its not something that will provide deep insight into your children but it is a nice way to spend dinner time. My youngest likes it too, we just read it for her and adjust the question or activity to her level. It has been dropped several times and has yet to suffer because of it. I can't remember if batteries came with it but we have not needed to replace them for a year yet. Ther are enough cards in the game that by the time you need to repeat any you have slighly forgotten it so it feels basically like a new card again.

Our children, ages 10, 9, and 6 love to play this game during supper. There are educational topics and fun topics. Most of the time it will lead to excellent discussions, and other times it just makes us all laugh. A great family game. This game would also work while traveling.
