I have never seen such a complete work,

As owner of 5 cats and 3 dogs I am always looking for useful references and this beats them all! I was a little afraid to buy the cds after reading one review but I took a chance and boy ohh boy am I glad I did. It is super easy to use, written for normal people (like meself) and it has everything. The pictures and graphics are fantastic and I found the pet records keeper a very nice bonus an worked great..I have all my pets info in in an hour or so. I agree with the other good reviews and guess the guy/girl with the bad review just was having a bad day or something. For us average folk this was increadible. I have the cat cd too..I feel the cost is very reasonable for all you get. I am going to review the cat cd also.

What a resource! I was impressed, and that is not easy!,

Review of Family Vet:I have never seen anything like this before. What a resource! I found this software to be very interesting and informative. I think my favorite part is the picture database. There were so many I couldn't believe they were all on that one CD. I mean I was just overwhelmed. If you have an interest at all in this subject or if you just have a dog you want to be better informed about his health this is for you, I think. It impressed me and I am not all that easy to impress. I mean when you can put in some symptoms and the software can give you potential diagnoses to ask your vet about...way cool! One way I found this practical was when I took my Pug in to see the vet. He was having some breathing difficulties, and my vet mentioned a couple things about the breed that I was able to go home and look up in the Family Vet. I mean, my vet is thorough and all but there is a difference between hearing something one time and being able to read and understand something at your leisure. Another cool thing is when my mother was thinking about getting a bulldog. I looked the breed up and was able to tell her what kinds of things the breed is known for like what diseases and conditions they are prone to. It was interesting to me just to read about the different breeds and see what the Family Vet has to say about them. If you want to know if a particularly pretty plant at the nursery would be harmful to your pet you can probably find it in the Family Vet too, and it will tell you whether or not it is safe. I mean, the list of things just goes on and on. My favorite part is still all the pictures, though, especially the x-rays (they are so neat!). I recommend this software. I think it is very inexpensive for all you get.

I am so happy there is something like this out there for me.,

I have this CD. It has been so wonderful in helping me with any problems with my 3 dogs. Even if there are no problems..I refer to it. I've never come across anything more helpful than this CD. Even my own Veterinarian likes it. (I think I'll get him one) ;) There's even a place for their "health records" to be stored. That is a real help to me.

Not What I Expected,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Family Veterinarian for Dogs (CD-ROM)
The CD Rom book is not what I expected. It seems to be old computer technology (I can't believe it was published in 1999). I can get much more information on the Internet. It is cumbersome to "surf" and not very in-depth. I thought the "click" sites in the text of the Book would take one out on the internet, but it doesn't...just to other pages in the cd rom book. I am really sorry I invested the money, it is not a very good reference. The other program is to keep your pet's health records. I have three dogs, I have spent several hours trying to input the informtion, it has very small fields, will simply erase your input if the "field" is too small, and the choices cannot be modified or customized. In my opinion, if you are computer literate at all, don't get this book.
