This is a textbook that I need for one of my course for a degree that I am reading in Child and Family Studies. Unlike many other textbooks, this book is worth reading. It is full of very current and updated information and covers a broad spectrum of family violence. A good buy indeed.

The book was very cumbersome and bulky. It did provide detailed and historical information into the family violence. It's very scary to read some of the information but this is stuff that people don't talk about and have their feelings bottled up! We had this book for our domestic violence class. If you are into knowing things I would recommend that you read this.

Although I am only into the second chapter of this textbook, I have been quite disappointed and distracted by the way it has been written and edited. I have to admit I am a stickler for grammar and word usage, but the convoluted/inappropriate wordage, errors, and tense changes would make it difficult for anyone to read. Chocked full of information so far and there are paragraphs that do flow coherently. Unfortunately, I become so distracted trying to figure out what they actually meant to say at times, that I was tempted to underline the errors instead of paying attention to the main points.

Family Violence Across the Lifespan is a Sage book (Sage publishes peer reviewed text-book quality books) and as such it is not for an evening of fireside reading purely for enjoyment (Unless you are me), it is a serious compilation of current , diverse and multicultural domestic violence data that links to pioneering landmark research, with a focus of progressive learning.

If you are an undergraduate or graduate Student, a Professional in the field desiring to stay up to date or a progressive learner, this book will be an excellent resource. The research is gathered by experts from experts in the field, via studies and meta-analyses of data and it is cross referenced with nationally accepted standards, information gathering systems and scientific tools of the behavioral health profession. A few examples include the MCTS Scale (The Modified Tactics Scale) and NIBRIS (National Incident Based Reporting System used by law enforcement to track violence incidents.

The behavior of domestic violence falls into a range of degrees, and types of abuse, with a complicated array of underlying dynamics of the abusers, abuse-EEs and those who experience the abuse as secondary victims. The entire family dynamic is affected as family systems theorists explain; affecting families across the lifespan.

This would be a great addition to libraries of domestic violence related service providers, Trainer's and Speakers.

Obviously this is a textbook. I've taken many psych. and socio. courses, so 1st-- be glad your prof. picked this one. It was inexpensive (especially in comparison to my university bookstore) and it arrived promptly. I will ALWAYS order my textbooks from Amazon and this was not an exception to my rule. In fact, my prof. posted the text within days of the class starting. I was out of town and because I ordered from Amazon I was able to get it in time for class and at the place where I was staying.

Everything was great, i received this brand new book right on time for my class and it was boxed perfectly. Not even a bent edge!!! Love it..well as much as i can for a school textbook :)

This book really helps cover all bases with regards to family violence. It lays out the information in an easy to understand format

The book got to me in a timely manner but it was not as new as I had hoped. It was definitely a used book. It had a little more under lining from previous use than was given in the description by the previous owner.

Quick two day delivery, and new book, however this book itself blows, I bought it for a 400 level family violence book and its not very healpful. Make sure you will acturally use it for class otherwise its a waste of space that I cannot wait to sell back. Kudos to the seller though I would purchase from them again. This book blows.

This book was in great condition and was delivered in a timely manner. I enjoyed this book because it covers all acts of violence and the people who commit them. This book helped me to look beyond the basic and open my mind to the unthinkable.
