From Booklist
Many modern families who live in urban and suburban areas have lost easy access to the natural world and its healing influences. Fellner, author of two aromatherapy books, offers a manual for parents and children that focuses on increasing awareness and connection to the earth through gentle, safe, natural remedies and family activities geared to learning about and interacting with nature. A general introduction discusses environmental issues, natural health principles, the body's immune system, and the healing powers of love, prayer, and meditation. Fellner devotes one chapter each to herbal medicine, homeopathy, flower essences, and aromatherapy--including, for each therapy, detailed coverage of 12 remedies and instructions for use. The next three chapters focus on family time together: open-ended and experiential nature games and crafts; bath time and its enhancement with bath vinegars, salts, oils, and safe bubbles; and bedtime stories about the natural world from traditional and aboriginal cultures. A 50-page AZ guide addresses three dozen common ailments of adults and children, suggesting remedies for each from the four therapies outlined earlier in the book. Penny Spokes
