More About the Author

In her avatar as a mild-mannered grannie, Helen works as a book editor in the exciting, 24-Hour Town called Las Vegas, Nevada, but sadly, she can only stay awake for about 18 of those hours per day. As the mother of four and grandmother of five, she spends many of those hours babysitting and reading really good books to Damien, Scarlet, Collin, Clementine, and Amy. When not enjoying her family and friends, Helen spends her time working, writing, and attending twelve-step recovery meetings. She likes to throw tea parties, visit secondhand stores, and is very big on putting things back where she got them.

"The Secret of Willow Ridge" is her latest book, and will be available in February of 2010 from Central Recovery Press.

Helen has been a teacher, a poet, a journalist, a cartoonist, a speaker, an editor, and always, a storyteller. She is the author of more than 17 titles, most available on Amazon.com, including the bestselling "A Poem a Day," Beavers, The Pigs' Picnic, The 100 Best Brain-Boosters, The Multilingual Translator, 25 Mother Goose Peek-a-Books, Pop-Up Parables and Other Bible Stories and Pyramids to Pueblos (with Carmen R. Sorvillo, illustrator), How to Write School Reports, What's a Girl to Do?, Wise Women Said These Things, and more, for such publishers as Scholastic, Mondo, Concordia, Publications International, and Peter Pauper Press.

She is a Pisces, and doesn't for a minute believe the world will end in 2012. If it does, she's going to be annoyed that she gave up smoking.
