4.0 out of 5 stars This is a delightful book probably perfect for middle school
Or, what the heck, high school, adults or elementary school. On the back it says it is for, ..."coloring book enthusiasts...". The front and back covers are what the drawing could look like if drawn by someone with excellent artistic skill. The rest of us, regardless of age, would have a harder time doing that. Or, what the heck, high school, adults or elementary school. On the back it says it is for, ..."coloring book enthusiasts...". The front and back covers are what the drawing could look like if drawn by someone with excellent artistic skill. The rest of us, regardless of age, would have a harder time doing that. It doesn't mean we wouldn't enjoy ourselves. I think a lot depends on what one used to color the drawings. I've always liked this book. I think it's a perfect companion piece to a collection of large, big color photo FLW books. The paragraph of info accompanying each drawing reads like it's suited for middle or high school readers. The coloring enthusiast in your life would probably really like this, particularly if they're into great buildings. Seeing the 43 pages of drawings, all exterior perspectives that include landscaping, gives a different presentation to his buildings than strictly photographs. These drawings are not to be confused with FLW's numerous architectural drawings. These were clearly drawn for this coloring book and a fine one it is. chrisbct@hotmail.com

I love Franl Lloyd Wright's work and I love coloring so I was thrilled to discover that Dover Publications had a book out about several of his creations. The drawings are simple black and white that you could color if you wished but I think the book is beautiful on its own and I'm not sure my coloring skills could do Wright's designs justice. The projects include both private homes and public buidlings. Each image is accompanied by a brief description that includes where, when, and for whom it was created. Several quotations from Wright himself are scattered throughout the book. I do wish the book had an index or a table of contents however. As for a coloring book, well, that's why I took off one star -- it seems disrespectful to color in this lovely architectual works.
