5.0 out of 5 stars My 4 yr old loves Fancy Nancy
The Fancy Nancy books have great stories, lessons, and "fancy" vocabulary my daughter can't get enough of.

3.0 out of 5 stars Late late late? Really?
My 7-yr-old niece loves Fancy Nancy books, and I thought this one would be perfect to give to her, since she loves the fact that she is always up way past her 8pm bedtime when she's with me. However, it was disappointing to find out that the "late late LATE" night is only 10pm! Also, the storyline was just okay....could have been a lot more exciting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Fancy Nancy charmer, May 17, 2010

Perfect for kids ages 4 to 8, this latest installment in the Fancy Nancy storybook line continues the little girl's charming and oh-so-posh adventures.

The plot is about Nancy's neighbor Ms. DeVine, who used to live in Hollywood and see lots of movie stars. Ms. DeVine lets Nancy borrow her scrapbook filled with celebrity photographs, some of them autographed. The starstruck Nancy spends the rest of the day impersonating a movie star, then stays up late under the covers looking at the scrapbook: "I stay up very late. It is almost ten o'clock when I put away the scrapbook and turn off my flashlight! I bet even celebrities don't stay up this late!" Needless to say, Nancy is very tired--exhausted!--and regrets her late night.

Aside from the gentle message, it's the little details will make you a Fancy Nancy fan. The illustrations, pen and ink over vibrant watercolor, are packed with fun and realistic details. Ms. DeVine's tiny dog Jewel is enamored of an autographed (with a pawprint) photo of Rin Tin Tin. Nancy gives an autograph to her own dog. Nancy's doll is dressed exactly like Nancy.

Like all the books in this series, throughout are simple words with their corresponding "fancy" equivalents: veranda for porch, celebrities for movie stars, fascinating for interesting.

Other good Fancy Nancy books include:

Fancy Nancy,

Fancy Nancy: Bonjour, Butterfly,

Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy,

Fancy Nancy: Tea Parties,

Fancy Nancy: Splendiferous Christmas and

Fancy Nancy: Explorer Extraordinaire!.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lesson: Staying up too late has negative consequences, April 18, 2011
This review is from: Fancy Nancy and the Late, Late, LATE Night (Paperback)
Cute story.

Does it teach kids how to stay up late (and hide it from parents) or that staying up has negative consequences?

Only time will tell.

We just love the Fancy Nancy series. This is a go to lesson for young ones who claim to not be tired enough for bed. As soon as I mention that staying up late leads to an exhausting day, the fight ends. Thanks Fancy Nancy for being a great example!

Excellent book but be aware that it is probably a book for 1st or 2nd graders begining to read. My grand daughter love Fancy Nancy, however these are way to easy for an 8 yr old

What better way to spend quality time with my granddaughter by reading books to her. She loves the Fancy Nancy books. I would recommend any of her books. These were reasonably priced.

I love Fancy Nancy. She is as much fun for me as she is for my daughter! This book does not disappoint. Included in the cute story is a lesson about getting to bed early.

This review is from: Fancy Nancy and the Late, Late, LATE Night (Paperback)
My five-year-old LOVES the Fancy Nancy books! The language is easy and accessible - although she can't read it alone yet, she is getting there. And what little girl has not stayed up too late?

My daughter loves Fancy Nancy and this one is not exception. I love how in the book they explain the consequences of Fancy Late Late night. Not only does she feel tired at school the next day but she falls asleep before Little sister does.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must for Fancy Nancy Fans, July 31, 2010

This review is from: Fancy Nancy and the Late, Late, LATE Night (Paperback)
My seven-year-old granddaughter simply can't get enough of Fancy Nancy and her plain parents. She has loved every book in the series. This time Nancy stays up past her bedtime to look at a scrapbook with a flashlight under the covers and finds that isn't such a good idea when she is fatigued (a fancy name for tired) the next day. This came after several nights at Grandma and Papa's when my granddaughter stayed up a little too late so she could really understand. I was pleased when she took the book today and read it to me! There were only a few words she needed help on and one was French so I thought that was very good. Many times she will read about half the book and then ask me to read the rest to her. This time she loved the story so much she just wanted to keep on reading herself. I know that a time will come when she outgrows Fancy Nancy but I hope it's not any time soon. I enjoy the stories and the detailed pictures as much as she does!
