My daughter is no red-head, but she is fashionable and precocious, so it is no wonder we love the Fancy Nancy series. This book is no exception.

Fancy Nancy is such a slow runner that she is DREADING Field Day. Then, to literally add insult to injury, Nancy finds out the athletic, but graceless Grace is on her team. How will Nancy face Field Day now?

As with all Fancy Nancy books, this story is peppered with vocabulary terms. But this book teaches kids that nobody is perfect, but that we still need to do the best we can, and to stick up for ourselves. It's also an opportunity to talk how harmful mean-spirited words can be.

My granddaughters love Fancy Nancy. I started sending them when they were 2 and 4 years old. They have almost every one. Now they are 7 and 9. They still look forward to receiving them. This has been the best find, since I don't see them often enough to know what they would like. The books have stories that teach manners and compassion. I pre order and the books go out as they are printed. Thanks Jane O'connor.

We love the Fancy Nancy series! Not only is she full of fun, imagination & joie de vivre, she gives insight into dealing with tough situations. In this book, Jane O'Connor has gently written instructions for children to deal with the mean kids in their lives in a mature and kind manner. Great lesson! Great story!

I ordered this book for my 5 year old daughter because I thought it would be a good way for us to discuss this topic. I have 3 daughters and my oldest soon to be 20 and the youngest 2 years old are the feisty ones that I did not or will I have to worry about. My middle daughter is more sensitive and it gave us a way to be able to discuss how the mean girl was handled in the story and how she handles difficult situations. I must say she had some very good responses for me so the book was definitely a good investment :0)

My daughter loves this book (She is 5 years old) and all the "Fancy Nancy" books she can get her hands on. Her teacher gave her the one with "The Boy from Paris" for Christmas and she loved it, especially because it was one of the first books she was able to read all by herself; so after that I got her the 4 book set and some others from the "I Can Read" series. The language is fun and the stories are well put together for beginners, just what they need to be encouraged ;) Highly recommend this series for young girls; especially "girly girls".

It is really a Fancy Nancy trait to present not only new words, a darling story, and a story with a life lesson. I am a Grandmother who was introduced to Fancy Nancy by her Granddaughter. I am still a fan of her and now love to read her to other little girls. I can't say I ever had a favorite book other than my Bible story book as a child but I have one now. Elaine in TEXAS!

This is an excellent book series. Can't go wrong with her fancy words. My little girl adores her. I rate this book 3 stars only because, the author didn't elaborate on what the mean girl did. I was hoping the author would identify some mean things kids of this age do, highlight them as not appropriate things I do or say to each other, then have the mean girl turn from her mean ways from Nancy's help. Oh well. Still love this series of books. Not enough to put me off. Enjoy and Happy Reading parents and kids!
