Tea party manual,
By
This review is from: Fancy Nancy: Tea Parties (Hardcover)
This book is a hands on manual for a little girl's tea party. There are ideas for desserts, decorations, etc. It is intended for older girls that may be considering having a tea party. Beautifully illustrated with easy recipes and ideas for children to do with an adult to prepare for a tea party. It really doesn't have a story line usually associated with the book series, which can be a bit confusing if you are prepared for Fancy Nancy to go to a tea party and a plot develop! Darling book suited for older girls.

I ordered this for my 3-year old and it's sort of a bummer because there's not much to it (story wise). Whereas some other FN books have a story line this doesn't. It teaches you how to throw a "fancy" tea party. There are recipes and other interesting things but it's not engaging because on some pages one would be reading the recipe for lemonade or whatever. It's still sweet and the illustrations are fancy of course, but I wish I had picked a different title. There are so many in the series of books to choose from and this one hasn't been a favorite.

Our first Fancy Nancy book....,

This review is from: Fancy Nancy: Tea Parties (Hardcover)
I got this book for my four year old granddaughter who has recently gotten into tea parties! It was our first exposure to the Fancy Nancy series and based on her reaction to Fancy Nancy's Tea Parties, it won't be our last!
The illustrations are great and there are little etiquette lessons in the clever dialogue. After reading the book, it is easy to see why Fancy Nancy is so popular.

Fancy Nancy Tea Parties
By Jane O'Conner This is a picture book with many words and definitions for kids, which teaches kids to use good manners. They will learn how to dress fancy, use French words, how to make invitations, paper fans, and decorate a table. This book includes recipes for tea and lemonade, simple treats. Also included are games to play, centerpieces to make and how to set up a buffet. You can only imagine the fun and excitement of having a tea party where girls 5-10 can do every fancy thing themselves. If you're a mom buying the book for yourself so you can get party ideas, pass on this one. You can get all the Fancy Nancy party ideas you want online - especially searching by blogs. Tons of moms have thrown great parties & have all the details listed on their blogs. So from an adult standpoint the book was a pretty big letdown & I'm really glad I didn't pre-order it and instead stood & read it at the bookstore.
If you have a daughter who can already read and enjoys tea parties & crafts I think it should be a great book. I think I would have enjoyed it when I was a young girl. I loved to plan things and on a children's level the book has some cute ideas (as an adult you've probably seen them all or most all). The book was definitely written for children (which I did not know before I read it).

I purchased this book because my daughters great grandmother loves to have tea parties for my daughter and niece who are 4. This book is a how to book on tea parties. It has cute craft ideas for making place settings and recipes for drinks and snacks. It's still enjoyable to ready as a bed time book. I absolutely love the french words in it. Very cute book and my daughter loves it.

Fancy Nancy is a an incredible series of books. I love reading them with my daughter and I love how much she gets into them and enjoys them. They are well-written, with good stories and illustrations, and a lot of care has went into the whole presentation. As a teacher and a father, I can recommend this book to anyone wholeheartedly - you and your child will love it!
