Maybe its just because I've been spoiled reading Charlaine Harris, Kim Harrison, and MJD but I found this book a little lacking in the suspense, action, and angst. The relationship development between Jane and Rhys left me satisfied and the love scenes were brilliant but it didn't FEEL surprising to me. 5.0 out of 5 stars There Are No Words!!!, September 28, 2005
There truly aren't enough words to describe how great this read really is. Truly this is a one of a kind vampire story and one that will totally entertain you.

Rhys Young is a vampire. Has been for over a two hundred years. On Christmas Eve this gloomy gus walks into a seedy bar and his immortal life will never be the same again. He meets Jane, a truly good heart that speaks to his lost soul. Well, Jane is too good of a girl to be in the dive they're drinking in and when her naive wonder gets her in trouble Rhys saves her, walks her back to her hotel and gets on with life. Sort of. See one of his brothers is less than thrilled with him...to the point that he'd like to see him dead. So he takes matters into his own teeth and sets out to wipe Rhys off the planet. Too bad Jane has made her way back for something she's lost. Now she's in danger as well.

Enter Sebastian, Rhys other brother (can you say yummy???) he saves Rhys and Jane and takes them back to their home. When Rhys wakes up well, lets just say he has a memory problem. He thinks he's a Viscount and that they are living in London cira 1800 something. Yup a vampire with amnesia. Oh, did I mention that Sebastain is going to go along with the whole thing because he wants Rhys to keep Jane?

What will happen when Rhys finally remembers just who and what he is? Will he keep Jane or will Christian have the final say?

Wow, this book will make you laugh, cry, and laugh again. Ms. Love has an amazing sense of humor and aptly demonstrates this for faithful readers with her wonderful Vampire story. I can't wait for the next one and I highly recommend this read. You won't be sorry.

This was a fun read, very amusing. Somehow though it just couldn't sink it's teeth into me.Hopefully it will be a series though and win me completely over.

Rhys was a regency viscount in Britain two hundred years ago when he & his 2 brothers were transformed into vampires by a bloodthirsty, horny, evil vampiress. Out of jealousy she killed their little sister, and out of revenge Rhys slowly drove her insane, literally. The story would have ended there...had the middle brother not already been in love with the deranged vampiress.

Fast forward to Christmas eve in present day New York City where the now exceptionally broody Rhys & his youngest brother the adorable Sebastion own & live above Carfax Abbey, their nightclub for vamps. Rhys steps out to a seedy bar for a holiday feast on a dirtbag when Jane steps into his life ( or afterlife?) and also into danger. Being the lead alpha male that he is, Rhys rescues her only to be attacked by his owm brother, Christian. Lilah , the evil vampiress, has just died for good and in an emotional rage Christian seeks to destroy his brother.

Sebastion manages to save both Rhys & Jane and tosss them in bed together to heal. When Rhys comes to he is a vampire with amnesia ( how soap opera)!! He believes that it's two hundred years ago and Jane is his fiance. He also forgets the important matter of being a vampire! Sebastion is forced to cover up from both his brother and Jane as he scemes to get them together. Can Jane teach Rhys to accept himself and love again before Christian snacks on them again?

The relationship development between Jane and Rhys left me satisfied and the love scenes were brilliant but it didn't FEEL surprising to me. I thought about purchasing the next in the series, especially because its about Christian who ends up being the semi-bad guy in this book but after a few minutes worth of deliberation I realized I need less NORMAL in my PARANORMAL romances.

5.0 out of 5 stars superb vampire romance, August 26, 2005
It is the day before Christmas Eve and two hundred year old vampire Rhys enters a seedy bar seeking oblivion. While he drinks away his sorrows, in walks Jane an innocent who sticks out in this dive. A customer hits on her and Jane is so innocent she accepts the drinks he keeps buying for her. When she leaves he follows her and attacks her but Rhys stops him. When Jane goes back to her hotel, Rhys drinks from her attacker and is then attacked by his brother, Christian who believes Rhys was the cause of his lover's destruction.

Jane returns to the area and Christian takes away her memory of seeing Rhys unconscious and him being on the scene. Sebastian, Rhys's other brother finds both of them and brings them to his home. Rhys' thinks he is betrothed to Jane and has no the memory that he is a vampire. Sebastian encourages his delusion believing that Jane can make Rhys very happy. The two fall love, neither knowing what Rhys really is but Christen is out there, waiting to destroy Jane and make his brother suffer.

Kathy Love has done the impossible: come up with an original idea for a vampire romance. She creates a situation that leaves the hero with amnesia so that neither he nor his lover knows he is one of the undead. This makes for some very humorous scenes as Sebastian, who is playing matchmaker has to placate them while creating believable explanations to his brother's questions. The love scenes are brilliantly written but lingering in the background is Christian and the danger he presents to Rhys and Jane, making readers wonder when he will attack next. This novel is a bloodsucker's delight.

2.0 out of 5 stars 2 Stars - Didn't Do It for Me, October 10, 2008

Deborah Cheng "Kooritsuki of Paranormal Roman... (http://romancenovelsreviews.blogspot.com/) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Although still new to the paranormal romance genre, I've always been in love with vampire-related stories. This book, although was not a bad read did not do it for me.

First of all, the character development is quite weak. Neither Rhys nor Jane has anything that is particularly special about their character. And because of this, it gets very difficult to see why they have fallen for each other so "deeply," as the story suggests. And it is also difficult to see how "deep" their love was for each other, as there really are no significant events in the story to show it to the reader, other than when Christian, Rhy's brother, attacks Jane.

In addition, the storyline is quite weak. Ms. Love was not able to build enough suspense for the climax of the story. There were many times throughout the book when I thought, "ok, something should be happening," but then nothing does. And the 2 love birds just went about doing the deed again and again. So when Christian finally makes his move, I was already yawning.

In short, this book is weak on both character and plot development. It wouldn't keep me turning the pages. What it did kept me doing was looking at how many pages are left in the book, and thinking of which book to read next.

2 stars for this book for that it wasn't so bad that I had to put it down, and because I am still somewhat interested in the two other brothers' stories. Although, those books has just been moved to my low priority list.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great New Series!, January 13, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Christmas is starting off on a bad note for Rhys Young. He's just met a wonderful woman named Jane, but decides to not pursue her. He just thinks that his family issues would overwhelm her. Besides, Rhys is so caught up with responsibility and the past that he is unable to enjoy anything or anyone. What woman could deal with vampire brothers and their guilt over one woman? However, when Rhys is attacked by an assailant, it is Jane who interrupts the would-be murderer.

When Rhys wakes up, he has selective amnesia. Rhys isn't fazed by the technology around him, but seems to have forgotten that he's a vampire! His brother Sebastian is at a loss. To help Rhys, not only does Sebastian have to remember difficult things from a century ago, but he also has to keep Rhys from going out into the sun while trying to get him to drink blood. How can he protect Rhys during the day or when he is working? Jane is the perfect solution. She can look after Rhys and let him see that women are more that just the opposite sex. With Rhys recovering, it looks like they'll be stuck together for the holidays and possibly longer. Rhys may have just found the mate he didn't know he was looking for.

Fangs for the Memories is Ms. Love's first book featuring the Young brothers. Rhys is the oldest brother who is serious with just about everything. Jane is such a sweetheart, who can look beyond his uptight persona to a man who has been misunderstood. Rhys and Jane's courtship is definitely unconventional with many twists and turns, but I think it is perfect. The secondary characters help to tie the past and present together, as well as set up for the next tale. It will be interesting to see how Christian and Sebastian fare in the love department. If it is anything like Rhys, I can't wait!

4.0 out of 5 stars Didn't want to put it down, June 24, 2006
Fangs for the memories, was a really fanastic read. Please don't let the cover fool you, it is not as light hearted as it leads you to believe. It is a wonderful romantic vampire story, with just the right amount of laughter and drama and even a hint of suspense. Can't wait to read the next one. Two Thumbs up.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, quick read, January 1, 2008
The first book in this series is a fun, quick read with a few laugh-out-loud moments that keep you reading. If you are looking for a serious, intense vampire story, don't start this book. If you want a little fun and romance, try it.

2.0 out of 5 stars Romance novel first, vampire novel... third, May 14, 2006

Word of warning!!! This is more of a romance novel than a vampire novel. I wish that I had figured that key point out before making my purchase and diving in. And it's not that the author telegraphs each and every plot point in the book, but she does. Basically, if you want a kinky romance novel read this. If you want a vampire novel and don't want to know the whole story by page 30, skip this! As it was, I got sick of reading about the overly naive heroine and the brooding protaganist. BORING! Been there, read that many a time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok. It had some good parts and some weak parts., June 27, 2008

I was chuckling several times. The characters and plot were good. Two parts were weak.

Story brief: Rhys, Christian and Sebastian are vampire brothers around 200 years old. Christian hates Rhys and wants revenge. Rhys usually avoids mortals, but saves Jane from an attempted rape. Christian attacks Rhys and causes Rhys to have amnesia, which causes Rhys to think he is human. He and Jane fall in love while neither one of them knows that he is a vampire.

The two weak areas are as follows. One: I found myself skimming through a couple of sex scenes. I'm not sure why. They didn't grab me enough. Once or twice I also skimmed a couple of other scenes, somehow in a hurry to get through the book.

CAUTION SPOILER:
Two: I did not like Rhys deciding to break up with Jane after he regained his memory. He knew she was in danger from his vampire brother Christian, but he said she must live her life away from Rhys to be safe from Christian. This was not true because it meant Rhys and Sebastian couldn't protect her from Christian. Many romance novels have the couple separate after they fall in love. I prefer better reasons than this.

Sexual language: strong. Number of sex scenes: seven. Setting: current day New York City. Copyright: 2005. Genre: paranormal romance.
