Book Description

September 1, 2005
There are Christmas mornings, and then there are Christmas mornings like this one: watching my brother, Rhys, swagger through our New York City apartment...smiling. We are talking about Rhys, the detached, surly and annoying; the man who turned brooding into an art form. But he's not brooding now. No, he's practically threatening to pistol whip me for shaking hands with the beautiful, sweet, half-dressed creature named Jane who just tried to sneak out of his bedroom. Weird. And who knew Brother Grim even had a sex drive? But it isn't just the smiling and the sudden libido that has me freaked out. Something terrible happened last night, something that made my brother break his own rule and save the life of a mortal. Whatever it was, now he, doesn't remember anything from the past two hundred years. He wants Jane so bad that he's forcing himself to forget he's a vampire, taking himself back to a time before he crossed over, and our family was destroyed. He's sauntering around the place like a Regency viscount with an English accent, saying things like "I behaved like a randy, soused caper-wit." Did we ever really talk like that? So, Rhys doesn't know he's a vampire, and neither does Jane. This is what we call a problem.

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Despite its lighthearted title, this is a darkly erotic novel. After a disastrous first day in the Big Apple, Jane gets inebriated at a bar with the help of a charming stranger. Rhys, knowing the ex-con's intentions are bad, follows them when they leave, saving Jane from rape. But during the attack, Jane loses her most precious possession--a chain with her parents' rings on it. She goes back to find it and finds her hero being viciously assaulted by his brother, Christian. Salvation comes in the form of Rhy's other brother, Sebastian, who offers to pay Jane to look after Rhys, who has lost his memory and now believes he is still a nineteenth-century viscount, not the 208-year-old vampire he really is. He also thinks Jane is his bride. Jane is in danger in more ways than one, and Love's clever amnesiac twist leaves the reader in suspense. Those who like vampire stories hot and steamy will go for this sensuous paranormal. Shelley Mosley

5.0 out of 5 stars There Are No Words!!!, September 28, 2005
This review is from: Fangs for the Memories (The Young Brothers, Book 1) (Paperback)
There truly aren't enough words to describe how great this read really is. Truly this is a one of a kind vampire story and one that will totally entertain you.

Rhys Young is a vampire. Has been for over a two hundred years. On Christmas Eve this gloomy gus walks into a seedy bar and his immortal life will never be the same again. He meets Jane, a truly good heart that speaks to his lost soul. Well, Jane is too good of a girl to be in the dive they're drinking in and when her naive wonder gets her in trouble Rhys saves her, walks her back to her hotel and gets on with life. Sort of. See one of his brothers is less than thrilled with him...to the point that he'd like to see him dead. So he takes matters into his own teeth and sets out to wipe Rhys off the planet. Too bad Jane has made her way back for something she's lost. Now she's in danger as well.

Enter Sebastian, Rhys other brother (can you say yummy???) he saves Rhys and Jane and takes them back to their home. When Rhys wakes up well, lets just say he has a memory problem. He thinks he's a Viscount and that they are living in London cira 1800 something. Yup a vampire with amnesia. Oh, did I mention that Sebastain is going to go along with the whole thing because he wants Rhys to keep Jane?

What will happen when Rhys finally remembers just who and what he is? Will he keep Jane or will Christian have the final say?

Wow, this book will make you laugh, cry, and laugh again. Ms. Love has an amazing sense of humor and aptly demonstrates this for faithful readers with her wonderful Vampire story. I can't wait for the next one and I highly recommend this read. You won't be sorry.

This was a fun read, very amusing. Somehow though it just couldn't sink it's teeth into me.Hopefully it will be a series though and win me completely over.

Rhys was a regency viscount in Britain two hundred years ago when he & his 2 brothers were transformed into vampires by a bloodthirsty, horny, evil vampiress. Out of jealousy she killed their little sister, and out of revenge Rhys slowly drove her insane, literally. The story would have ended there...had the middle brother not already been in love with the deranged vampiress.

Fast forward to Christmas eve in present day New York City where the now exceptionally broody Rhys & his youngest brother the adorable Sebastion own & live above Carfax Abbey, their nightclub for vamps. Rhys steps out to a seedy bar for a holiday feast on a dirtbag when Jane steps into his life ( or afterlife?) and also into danger. Being the lead alpha male that he is, Rhys rescues her only to be attacked by his owm brother, Christian. Lilah , the evil vampiress, has just died for good and in an emotional rage Christian seeks to destroy his brother.

Sebastion manages to save both Rhys & Jane and tosss them in bed together to heal. When Rhys comes to he is a vampire with amnesia ( how soap opera)!! He believes that it's two hundred years ago and Jane is his fiance. He also forgets the important matter of being a vampire! Sebastion is forced to cover up from both his brother and Jane as he scemes to get them together. Can Jane teach Rhys to accept himself and love again before Christian snacks on them again?

3.0 out of 5 stars All right....but less fangy then I hoped, August 8, 2006

Maybe its just because I've been spoiled reading Charlaine Harris, Kim Harrison, and MJD but I found this book a little lacking in the suspense, action, and angst. The relationship development between Jane and Rhys left me satisfied and the love scenes were brilliant but it didn't FEEL surprising to me. I thought about purchasing the next in the series, especially because its about Christian who ends up being the semi-bad guy in this book but after a few minutes worth of deliberation I realized I need less NORMAL in my PARANORMAL romances.
