2.0 out of 5 stars Not a Vampire Romance
I was so bored by this book, I kept asking myself why I bothered continuing to read it. The vampire lead is trying his best not to be a vampire...and as a result we rarely see any of his vampire attributes. This is a mundane romance novel where in the last chapter there's a revelation of "oh yeah, by the way I'm a vampire." The lead didn't need to be a vampire, and...

5.0 out of 5 stars I Loved Christian!!!, January 18, 2006
The second story in the "Young Brother's" series "Fangs but no Fangs" is without a doubt one of the best paranormal vampire romances in publication. Ms. Love has taken the dark Christian (we met him in "Fangs for the Memories") and made this anti-hero a wonderful romance hero!

Christian Young is looking for redemption after reaching rock bottom. Now this vampire has left all of his creature comforts behind in order to live his own twelve-step program. He's going to live like a human. Well, this is easier said then done and just when he thinks that life can't get any worse he becomes the reluctant hero when he saves Jolee Dugan from her knife-wielding brother. Now his somewhat well ordered life is about to get a lot more complicated then ever before. Why now after all these years is he attracted to a mortal?

Jolee is trying so hard to escape the taint of her family. Too bad her family and her past keep intruding on the life she's trying to make. When handsome yummy man from across the street saves her from her kid brother she's grateful. When same yummy guy accidentally tries to run her off the road...well, that's just not something a hero would do...no matter that it was an accident. Well, now she can't keep her mind off of Christian and Christian seems to be not inclined to ignoring her. Well, you can't dodge fate and fate has plans for these two wounded and lost souls. Even though they find love with the other, will they be able to hold on to it, or will life inevitably get in the way?

This is a story about finding redemption and acceptance. Jolee and Christian are wonderfully crafted characters the reader will feel connected the moment they start the story. Ms. Love has an amazing talent for telling a story and her vision of the vampire legend is fresh and unique. It takes a very strong talent to take a villain and turn him into a sympathetic, likeable hero. Ms. Love has managed to do this. This is one author that truly shines in the romance genre!

5.0 out of 5 stars 2nd Vampire Brothers Book, February 17, 2006
Christian Young is in a self-imposed twelve-step program on How to be More Human. After destroying his brother's life, he has decided to give up everything that makes him a vampire. Saying so long to luxurious houses, cars, and biting for food, Christian now lives in a trailer park sucking rationed blood bags. His only indulgence is his Porsche. When he saves his next-door neighbor, Jolee, from her knife-wielding brother, Christian wonders if being human is any better than playing one.

Jolee has lived a difficult life. Her brothers have a penchant for crime, while her sisters tend to be rather easy. Yet Jolee is nothing like her family. All she wants is to make her bar, Leo's Brew Pub, a success through her own hard work and dedication. She didn't expect Mr. Fancy Pants to save her life and sweep her off her feet. Maybe opposites can attract.

Fangs But No Fangs is about Christian Young, the second of Ms. Love's Young vampire brothers. His twelve-step program is quite ingenious, it even had me thinking I should adapt one or two of those steps into my own life. Jolee and Christian each offer a gift that neither expects from the other. Jolee helps him realize that love doesn't have to involve pain. Likewise, Christian shows Jolee that not all men are in it for sex. They have their awkward moments together, especially when the past rears it's ugly head. Secondary characters help them face their personal demons and learn that the past doesn't have to ruin the future. It will be interesting to see how Sebastian, the youngest Young brother, meets his match next!

4.0 out of 5 stars Who would've Thought Change was Possible, March 5, 2006
By
Kathy Love is a remarkable author and the second installment of her "Fangs" trilogy is truly fantastic.

Who would have thought bad boy "Christian Young", middle brother of the Young brothers' clan, could be redeemed after years of hating/blaming his older brother Rhys for the death of his beloved "Lilah" who really was a "B" and definitely not the woman/vampire Christian believed her to be.

After doing what he believes to be the unspeakable to brother Rhys' now bride, Jane, mentioned in "Fangs for the Memories" Christian runs off to a rundown trailer park in the middle of nowhere to teach himself a little about humanity. There he meets and eventually falls for Jolee, bar owner, from the wrong side of tracks who wants to achieve something in life and to accomplish what she wants without having to live up the family shame as well as get away from the dysfunctional family to which she was born, but boy it's not easily getting away from a family with no morals or it appears no redeeming qualities.

After Christian saves Jolee from a confrontation with a man who turns out to be her brother, Christian realizes this is actually his first attempt at fitting into human society and Jolee is the woman who's makes him want to become the best man/vampire that he can be. Christian and Jolee's relationship has a rocky beginning as they both have trust issues but once they begin to know each other, there's no turning back.

"Fangs but No Fangs" was a wonderful story and Ms. Love, keep doing what you're doing as you've got another fan rooting for you. I can't wait to read Sebastian's story cause if it's anything like the last two "Fangs for the Memories" and "Fangs but No Fangs" then I'm sure to be blown away once again.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, January 28, 2006
Christian Young the snotty, the cultured and refined brother to Rhys Young who we met in Fangs for the memories is living in a trailor park trying to repent for his sins. Being he killed his brother's love in the first book he leaves and starts to be a more nice vampire by stop feeding on humans intirely going cold turkey. This of course is where he meets Jolee and things start to get a lot more interseting. Little does he know that jolee will not only be his 12 step program but the love of his life.

Kathy, I forgot to tell you how much I enjoyed Christian's 12 steps. You redeemed him well, and make me want to visit the nearest trailer park and kareoke bar. Ooops, I did that one, didn't I? Can't wait on the next brother! Keep typing:)

This is the story of the second brother in the series. If you are like me, and you loved Rhys in the first story, you will LOVE Christian in this one. I can't wait for Seabastian's story, now!! You will love this vampire family every bit as much as Lynsay Sands vampire series. If you need a break from some of the more "darker" vampire stories, than look no further. Plenty of steamy, sexy vampires, and loads of humor.

4.0 out of 5 stars a strong sophmore effort, April 11, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book is so much better than the first, it follows the Young brothers and their quest to find themselves. This book tells the tale of Christian Young, a handsome vampire trying to find redemption for the many many years of living a decedant lifestyle. His past relationship was filled with pain and obsession and revenge. After attacking his brothers girlfriend in the last book "Fangs for the Memories", Christian runs to a small town in the middle of no-where and takes up residence in a trailor park. He helps out a neighbor and she in turn becomes his ultimate salvation. The thing I like most about this author, is that her characters are flawed and she takes them out of their comfort zone. We don't need another book about the perfect vampire, she makes her characters very likeable and you want them to be successful. She makes them goofy and "normal". Make sure you read these books in order, they are both worth it.

I was so bored by this book, I kept asking myself why I bothered continuing to read it. This is a mundane romance novel where in the last chapter there's a revelation of "oh yeah, by the way I'm a vampire." The lead didn't need to be a vampire, and there's no creation of a vampire 'world.' If you're looking for a paranormal romance, try a different author. This book can barely claim to be a part of the paranormal genre.

5.0 out of 5 stars Who knew Christian could be so sweet., July 16, 2009
This book is about Christian Young. He falls for Jolee who owns a bar and lives in a trailer park.

2nd book in the Kathy love series. I loved this one better than I did the 1st one. Christian is the "evil" brother out of the 4 books. Who knew someone who could be so evil turn out to be so sweet? I loved this book. I liked the sex scenes better in this book than the first. It was one of the sweetest love stories.

5.0 out of 5 stars Light-hearted and funny vampire read!, April 3, 2009
By
Susie (Alabama, USA) - See all my reviews
Fangs But No Fangs by Kathy Love is the second story in her series about the Young family starring Rhys, Christian, Sebastian, and Elizabeth. This story is about Christian Young, the middle child and outcast/black sheep of the family. Picking up sometime after the first book, Fangs For the Memories, Christian has left New York thinking that he killed his brother's mate. He wanted revenge against his brother for the death of the vampire that he loved. Eventually, he realizes that his vampire love never loved him in return. He goes to live is a run-down trailer park and gives up all of his vampire ways including shape-shifting and biting. He lives on bagged blood instead. One night, he rescues his neighbor, Jolee, from an attack by her druggy brother. Jolee is trying to escape her family's reputation/past and make a new name for herself in this town. Sparks fly between them immediately and this confuses Christian. He doesn't understand his instant attraction to her. The next night, he almost runs Jolee over with his car. Jolee owns a bar down the street from the trailer park, and she was walking home from work. Christian takes her to the hospital to get her checked out. Since her shoulder is injured, he decides to help her out at her bar for a few days. The more that they work together, the closer they get, and the more that the attraction between them build. Christian decides that instead of fighting his attraction to her, he will just go with it. He decides to date her. It doesn't take long for him to decide that he wants her as his mate, but she doesn't know that he is a vampire. There are some very humorous moments and dialogue with this story. It was more light-hearted than the first. This was surprising to me considering Christian's and Jolee's past. I enjoyed this story more than the first one. I can't wait to read Sebastian's story because he is the playboy in the family.
