This review is from: Fanny Elssler's Cachucha (Paperback)
The middle of the nineteenth century was the time of the Romantic Era in ballet when ballerinas went sur la pointe and danced in ballets with romantic themes in fantasy worlds. One such ballerina was Fanny Elssler who created a sensation with the solo: La Cachucha which was choreographed with castinets, costume and music in the Spanish idiom. Ann Hutchinson has recorded this choreography in Labanotation transcribed from Frederic Zorn's early dance notation which he had composed himself. It is a great record from the past.
