3.0 out of 5 stars Simple yet Satisfying
This was the third book I read of Mrs. Brown. I wasn't blown over, wasn't wowed or anything, but I wasn't disappointed either. It was simple, yet endearing. I too am a single mother of two lovely children, and have been accused of being too reserved and uptight, so could relate to Elizabeth's character. (I can also enjoy a good daydream now and then) It's a good read, not...

4.0 out of 5 stars A Widow and a Bachelor, February 17, 2001
This review is from: Fanta C (Mass Market Paperback)
Elizabeth Burke is the owner of the store Fantasy, she has two kids and her husband has been dead for 2 years.

Thad Randolph is a bachelor who lives next to Elizabeth. He moved into his house about the time after Elizabeth's husband was killed.

Elizabeth and Thad never really said anything to each other except for the occasional hellos. This all changed when Elizabeth rescued a cat from the tree and ended up getting stuck on top of the tree. Thad kind of saved her by guiding her down. Elizabeth and Thad then begins to get drawn together partly because of Elizabeth's kids but also something else because they always happen to see each other.

But then there are obstacles for them to overcome, like Elizabeth's fear of people gossiping about her and Thad, Thad's bachelorhood and all these other issues.

I think Fanta C. is kind of mild, compared to Adam's Fall. Too bad I read Adam's Fall first because it goes after Fanta C. and it kinda killed some of my interest. (Adam's Fall is Elizabeth's sister's story about her love life) But all in all, Fanta C isn't bad. There are sweet parts and parts that I think Elizabeth is being too much of a prude.

I rate this book about a 4.5

4.0 out of 5 stars A fast, easy and satisfying read, March 7, 2006
This review is from: Fanta C (Mass Market Paperback)
Two years after being widowed, Elizabeth Burke has managed to pick up her life with the help of her sister and two beloved children. Along with caring for her two exuberant angels, she also manages her small, but successful boutique. But there are times when she finds herself dreaming of the love that she once had with her late husband, and fantasizing about once again having the kind of romance that made her knees weak. Enter her dashing neighbor, Thad Randolph.

A real gentleman who makes her laugh, Elizabeth can't help but fall for Thad's charms. But is she ready to take a chance at love again, or will she hold back and content herself in her fantasy world?

If you're after a short but satisfying romantic read, FANTA C is a book to spend a lazy afternoon with. I liked the interaction between Thad and Elizabeth. The tenderness between them and the way Thad has brought joy to Elizabeth's life and her kids was quite delightful. And for such a short story, this book is brimming over with sensuality. Elizabeth's fantasies are surely hot and Thad is just the man to fulfil her wicked dreams.

FANTA C is a fun and entertaining read. It is witty and enjoyable, and I liked Elizabeth's children and sister, Lilah, who has her own story, ADAM'S FALL. I just loved the way her children inadvertently embarrass Elizabeth with the typical childhood candor and enthusiasm. They'll surely make you laugh.

Wow, what can I say more. The characters, the story, the book is just great. I've read this book only two days ago and I can still remember everthing I've read. I couldn't eat or do something else. I just read the book. I couldn't put it down. The relation between Thad and Elisabeth with the kids surrounding them is just great. You must read this one surely.

I first read this book when it was published as a Loveswept title in the late 80's. The story has stayed with me and I usually read it during flights or long appointment stays, etc. I can no longer find my original copy. Elizabeth owns a wonderful shop called Fantasy. Her sister (whose story follows in "Adam's Fall) always tries to get her to lighten up - even getting her a vanity license plate. I really do not want to give too much of the plot away, but it is a fast and fun read. Ms Brown has come a long way from her formula days, but for a good short story, this one is great.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is hot cosy stuff to read, February 27, 2000

This review is from: Fanta C (Mass Market Paperback)
This was my first Sandra Brown and it really got me hooked to her style, but lately the last releases rather put me off.

The Fanta C is a must read for all her readers who love her fantasy in romantic plots(hot and cosy). Don't miss the continue Adam's Fall!

5.0 out of 5 stars A must read!, January 17, 2000
This review is from: Fanta C (Mass Market Paperback)
I loved this book. This is one of the first ones I've read and I still love it! I'm following up with Adam's Fall and I hope it'll be as good as Fanta C. I loved it. Elizabeth got annoying a little with her properness, but I think there are such people. In the end she relaxed a little in my opinion.

If nothing else, you have to read it just so you know how it all began when you read `Adam's Fall', which IS one of her BEST! ...2.5 Stars

5.0 out of 5 stars THIS is what summer romance novels were meant to be!!, July 15, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Fanta C (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was the first romance novel I ever read, and to this day, after reading dozens of other novels, remains one of my all-time favorites. This is one of Sandra's older books before she went mainstream and did that horrid murder/suspense stuff. This is pure, sensual trashy summer reading at its best! The plot is charming, but the characters didn't really light up (Elizabeth's facade of primness and properness is a little annoying) Then again, who cares? The best scenes in the novel are the sex scenes! (The title says it all) If you're looking for some good dirty fun, this is definitely a must-read! P.S. You should read Adam's Fall afterwards, which follows up on Adam and Lilah, the heroine's sister, the best characters in the book.
