If you've never heard Metric, this is an incredible album to start with. Strong indie flare, but super accessible. If you like Stars, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Bloc Party...you'll love these guys. Crunchy and a bit edgey, but super melodic with Emily Haines awesome voice overtop.

It's funny that in the song "Gimme Sympathy", they ask if you would rather be the Beatles of the Rollings Stones. I think it is funny because groups like this seem to move Rock well beyond those two groups.

It's just a great blend of themes, melodies, voice, mood and pleasant shifts within the songs. If you want some controlled high energy Rock try Sick Muse and Front Row. There's a focused intensity to a lot of these songs, and they know how to back off the throttle a bit and then bring it back.

It's been a long time since I've bought an album and played it from beginning to end without fast forwarding through bad songs. Metric's Fantasies is a wonderful effort from the Canadian harmonic rock band. There are strong Pixies influences and the upbeat female vocals perfectly complement the music and lyrics. It's accessible, but retains the intelligent writing that you would expect from an indie rock band. Five big stars.

I respectfully take exception to one of the other reviews that suggested getting to know this group through their previous records before purchasing this cd. While that is probably good advice that could applied to almost any band and any cd, Fantasies by Metric will be enjoyed regardless of any previous knowledge of this band's work. This is a very nice cd. Buy this one, you will not be disappointed. It's Awesome!

This is my first metric album and I absolutely love it. This is a well-produced album with some very catchy tunes. The female lead vocalist is excellent. The thing I like most about metric, is that they have a unique and a truly original sound. I would like to see more band like these to come up and define the 00's. Amazon's $5 deal for this album is a steal.I would highly recommend this album.

Stand out tracks: "Gimme sympathy", "Collect call" and "Twilight galaxy".

All songs are awesome. I am fairly new to Metric's music but I like the different style and gritty guitars. The lead singer has a beautiful voice. Some songs can start off slow but overall, great album!

I read some of the reviews of this album, not having heard anything off of it. The reviews were convincing.
It fulfills expectation and hope.
If you like Rilo Kiley or Stars, you'll probably like this album. The lead singer has a quiet voice that's perfect for the lyrics and the music. It's a mellow album with enough of a beat that it won't make you sleepy. The lyrics are introspective and observant.
I almost want to say it's delicate sounding, but it's not really. That's just the impression from how very precise and fine the music is. It's New Wave, but not like the 80s. It's more polished and less dance.
The whole album is good. Try it!

This is a great album if you already like a couple of Metric songs. In my opinion, the sound quality from Amazon MP3s are better than iTunes. Once you download the Amazon MP3 manager, the songs download, then iTunes program on my computer automatically recognizes the new downloads and then all that's left to do is sync the songs to my iPod. Download this album now!

Catchy guitar riffs, thoughtful lyrics, Metric proceed with their unique style and venture in new some new musical territories without loosing their soul.

i think it's a great album that grows on me more and more with each listening. but since "you can't get the sound from a story in a magazine," i suggest you just listen for yourself instead of reading long-winded reviews. you can listen to it in full at the band's official website, ilovemetric. if you like it, you can also download it there in 320kbps MP3 or even lossless FLAC from the band's official website (meaning, either much better sound quality than here, or perfect CD quality for FLAC) for a mere $1 more than here.
