3.0 out of 5 stars pin prick
My four year old is heart broken - a pin prick in his stretch. Ours too does not have blue gloves or boots, not sure if that matters.

Does anyone know how to repair a pin prick?

5.0 out of 5 stars new twist on an old classic, January 15, 2006

The stretchable Mr. Fantastic is based on the new movie 'Fantastic Four' but it is basically the same as the Stretch Armstrong I had as a kid. Everyone I knew wanted one and they were fun to play with. When I gave this new Mr Fantastic stretch figure to my son, he had a ball with it. Tugging away to see how far it would go. It does seem more durable than the Stretch Armstrong of old and is not as likely to break or tear. I recommend this toy highly!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful toy, glad to see this classic back in production, October 29, 2005

I recently purchased this toy for my son. He's still a bit young for it but I stretch it out for him from time to time as he watches in wide-eyed amazement. As some have mentioned it's good for kids and adults as well. Nothing like stretching the heck out of this thing to relieve some stress lol.

Some of you may remember the older stretch armstrong that was in production years ago. I have fond memories of that toy when I was a young child, definitely one of my favorites till I eventually poked a hole in it and the poor thing "bled" to death. As a kid, that was traumatic lol. Anyway, since they were no longer sold here in the U.S. for the past several years I was planning on buying one on Ebay from overseas for roughly $100. I was thrilled to see this classic toy return here and it saved me a ton of cash I would of spent anyway.

Obviously the durablility of this toy depends on how the child treats it. They call him stretch armstrong, not spike armstrong. Poke stretch with a sharp object and he'll have a one way ticket to the trash dump. Along the same lines, have a couple overzealous kids both grab one side of stretch and pull their hardest and watch how quickly he'll rip apart. This toy is built well enough to withstand normal play but if a child wants to be destructive with it, nice knowin' ya stretch.

Bottom line, well worth the price tag in my humble opinion. I'm so pleased with stretch I plan on buying a couple more for both of my nephews Christmas.

I bought this toy for an eight year old and also his six year old brother gets into the act - They are enjoying the toy very much and it seems to be weathering the test that these two active kids put it to

2.0 out of 5 stars Not very durable at all, September 1, 2005

I got a mr. fantastic for my five year old who doesnt have anywhere near the muscle strength of the kids pulling on this toy in the commercial. Mr. Fantastic's arms and legs tore opened the second day we had this toy. My son didnt even get to stretch him far at all and his arms and legs tore and the gel leaked out and gets him and everything it touches extremely sticky. The arms and legs didnt tear off but just got cracks that leak continously. Before it ripped I thought this was a great toy because it was fun and it has great resistance to give the hand and arm muscles a good workout. My son loved it and was soo disappointed that Im going back to the store to exchange it for another, if that one stays together then I will assume my first purchase was just defective.

4.0 out of 5 stars Delightful Mr. Fantastic: well-done head; body, not as resiliant., August 18, 2005

MR. FANTASTIC is a well-conceived doll from the outset; with an astonishingly good likeness of Dr. Reed Richards, as far as the head and face are concerned. The doll-makers went to great lengths to capture the handsome features of actor Ioan Gruffudd; which, as far as us over-grown female fans are concerned, is of top importance; you bet! But, when it comes to the body, there is a lack of ability for the product to return to the original shape. DAMN that Von Doom, anyway! And the lack of the boots and gloves gives the product an unfinished appearance. What a shame, as you started out so well... Still, Mr. Fantastic is still, well, FANTASTIC; everything considered. And believe me: I am WELL over the age of 13!
