5.0 out of 5 stars Great for those of us over 40, too!
My 40th birthday is a distant memory, but Pam Farrel's words still apply. In this book, Pam leads us on a step-by-step journey through each area of life and helps us find the joy we were meant to have. Yes, God is in control, but Pam reminds us that much of our peace and contentment rests in our attitudes and choices--about money, love, health, and ministry. Thank you,...

1.0 out of 5 stars Christian-oriented: be warned!
This book tries to disguise itself as a self-help guide for women over 40, but it is actually nothing but thinly veiled christian-oriented propaganda. Don't waste your money!

5.0 out of 5 stars Five Stars!, August 26, 2007
This review is from: Fantastic After Forty!: The Savvy Woman's Guide to Her Best Season of Life (Paperback)
Now, I'm over 40, so I am partial to books for women in this age group. More and more titles have been coming out to reach the lady "boomers". Some are good, some not so much. I believe that Fantastic After 40 stands head and shoulders above most other books in this genre.
This book is an inspirational, Christian title that takes a look on how to handle aging with grace and joy. It offers practical advice to women in all walks of life for dealing with health, finances, the "empty nest", aging parents, menopause, and much more!
The author has a reader-friendly writing style that leaves you feeling like you've just had a chat with your girlfriend. It is must read for anyone approaching 40 or for those of us who are beyond that bend in the road.

4.0 out of 5 stars Solutions to our problems!, April 11, 2007
This review is from: Fantastic After Forty!: The Savvy Woman's Guide to Her Best Season of Life (Paperback)

Pam Farrel's "Fantastic After 40!" is a useful, uplifting book on how to handle life changes and life in general after the oh-so-dreaded fortieth birthday. Since I've recently passed this milestone myself, I was truly curious to see that kind of advice she has to offer.

While very much Christian oriented - and I do wish there was something in the title or subtitle to alert the reader to that, since there are some readers who will not be able to identify themselves with it - I found the book both helpful and inspirational. In addition to the useful and very much expected advice to pray, study the Bible and have a group of supportive girlfriends it offers a lot of practical advice in many walks of life, from dealing with family issues, health, finances and more. It teaches one how to build a new, more positive outlook on life and how to live life that way. It provides advice on how to improve your health and energy levels. It deals with the inevitable arrival of menopause and how to make this transition easier. Filled with both humor and practical advice it is a good reference book.

Farrel's writing style is fluid and pleasantly chatty. Even while speaking of putting your trust in God, prayer and renewal, she does not sound preachy. Numerous practical examples, illustrated with real stories of her friends and acquaintances, make heartening reading. If nothing else, you will discover that other women have problems as well - and oftentimes much larger than yours. There is a lot to be learned from this manual - and you can always take the parts that work for you and skip the rest.

Interesting and useful reading for any woman approaching 40 or all of us who have already passed this milestone - and left it behind us in dust! - "Fantastic After 40?" is a book that deals with changes happening to us in a positive way and offers a slew of doable solutions to our problems.

Received book free of charge.
