This book has SOME of Detmold's good paintings in it, alot of them some of his best. I thought it was going to be more of a variety than it was. It had all of his insect pictures from Fabre's book, his Jumgle book paintings, (which he didn't do all of them, his brother did a few and I wasn't interested in his brother's art), and a few of his Arabian Nights work. The Arabian Nights were, to me, some of his very best and most interesting work. I would have liked to have seen more like that and some less known works in the book, rather than the same ones that are already in very well known and easily accessible edition.
But....overall, it was a nice book. The pictures were large and the paper was good quality.
