5.0 out of 5 stars Easy Listening to full dance madness!
A stroke of genius that crosses so many musical boundries. Leave your neatly ordered musical tastes behind and buy this, its worth its weight in gold, you will not be sorry.

Somehow these tunes will worm there way into your subconcious and you will be dam glad they did!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Talk about false advertising...
This band is neither plastic, nor fantastic. I could make better music with a couple rubber bands, an empty coffee can, and a stick. I advise anyone thinking of buying this CD to think again.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Classic, June 27, 1999

Great relaxing, loungy, beaty tunes. I would recommend this CD to anyone who likes Pizzicato Five, and any artist on the Sushi 3003 CD which is also great. Tomoyuki Tanaka is too cool!

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm tired of picking up your tabs at the Bunny Club!, April 7, 2000
This review is from: Fantastic Plastic Machine (Audio CD)
This is my favorite Fantastic Plastic Machine album! The music is a blast- it's really fun '60's pop. The song "Bachelor Pad" is in "Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me" during the photo shoot scene. If you like Dimitri From Paris' "SacreBleu" album, or Pizzicato Five's "Playboy & Playgirl" album (or any P5 release, for that matter) you'll probably dig this album -Maki even sings the infectiously bouncy "Dear Mr. Salesman." The only thing I don't like is the first track, which is a short (:30?) little introductory skit. Otherwise, this album is really cute & cool!

4.0 out of 5 stars It Never Fails to Put A Smile On My Face, August 25, 2000

Categorize it as world-pop, this lot hails from Japan, they make good dance record, that's all. Nothing great, nothing ground-breaking nothing avant garde. It is just one of those interesting little pop records you want to listen after a day of school, cheers you up, makes you energetic again, like expression. Sweet but not to the extent sacchrine, just like Saint Etienne, Dimitri From Paris and...maybe Genle People. Clearly, they have much better taste than your S Club 7 or that'Blue DaBaDi' man. If you feel like enjoying youself to some good record, buy this, and you will never get sick of it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Will Put a Smile on Your Face and a Bounce in Your Step!, February 28, 2001

I stumbled across a cartoon video on The Cartoon Network call "Mars Forever" by this Japanese group and became hooked on the tune. Although that song is not on this CD, this is probably their best known effort and a great place to start enjoying the Fantastic Plastic Machine.

If you like catchy pop tunes that put a smile on your face like Top 40 hits used to in the 60's and 70's, you will LOVE this little gem of an album! Almost every song has an infectious catchy beat to go with fun lyrics sung in sugary female voices.

Highly reccomended. If you don't enjoy this CD you're taking life too seriously.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Wayyy beyond the average pop music spectrum, January 14, 2001

I remember getting this album last Christmas ('99). Immediately after taking the CD out of the case, I indulged myself in FPM's world of lounge/euro-pop/'60's groove/techno fusion. And here it is, more than a year later, and I'm still hooked on it. It's that good. Along with luxury, this album is like a breath of fresh air to many who feel that the music from the Top 40 has become too monotonus and boring. Give this album a try, and you might get hooked on it as well...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Plastic Machine - The Fantastic Plastic Machine, February 22, 2011
This review is from: Fantastic Plastic Machine (Audio CD)
The Fantastic Plastic Machine is The Fantastic Plastic Machine's US debut. Makes sense, doesn't it? It's a wild mix of disco, lounge and 70s psychedelic pop that the Japanese seem so adept at. "L'Aventure Fantastique" is club-ready; it's so peppy, you'll be high for a week. There's lots of kookiness on display here; for instance, what's up with the lyrics of "Dear Mr. Salesman"? (Answer: they're not meant to be taken seriously.) Their cover of Joe Jackson's "Steppin' Out" is pure genius, an all-time lounge classic. "Philter" sounds suspiciously like a reimagining of an Italian movie theme. A few tracks are slightly clunkier than others ("Please, Stop!"), but overall, the album is tremendous fun and spirited.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Bosa Nova Sound, December 14, 2008
This review is from: Fantastic Plastic Machine (Audio CD)
Very good album. I can listen to it all the way through with out skipping tracks, which is somewhat rare. The sound is relaxed, yet upbeat with more organic sounding samples that are not overly repetitive. Melding bosa nova with electronica yields a unique sound that is definitely worth checking out!

4.0 out of 5 stars Pizzicato 5 fans: read this, February 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Fantastic Plastic Machine (Audio CD)
If you can't wait for the next Pizzicato 5 album, check out this CD. It is every bit as fun, dizzily melodic, and post-modern savvy as the best that P-5 has to offer. Most of it is pretty beat-heavy, but the hooks are never lost in the mix. The sound is drawn mainly from synthesizers and samples, so the grooves can be sterile. Still, it's all in the spirit of a groovy good time. Try it; i don't think you'll be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Una buena opcion!!!, May 18, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Fantastic Plastic Machine (Audio CD)
